Anybody use a leather spray on their seats?
 

Anyone here thought of/or have sprayed their seats with the leather protectant sprays that you may find at Aldo or Wilsons Leather, etc. for extra scuff/wrinkle protection? :nix:

IDK....I just use aerospace 301 every 2 or 3 weeks, looks almost new after a year.

Leatherique Pristine clean. Amazing stuff!! Every other month I use Leatherique Rev Oil. Seats look like the day I got the car.

Does the leather that MB uses in our cars not have a vinyl coating over it? I am pretty sure I read that somewhere, not to use leather cleaning and conditioner products as it will dmg the vinyl coating.... or something along those lines. I am just not sure which models use this particular leather...

I'm not sure if there's a vinyl coating on our seats or not, but i do know that some leather cleaner and conditioners, will dry out your leather causing it to crack years down the line. So be careful about what you use. I woulodn't use some $3 cleaner personally. Typically the more expensinve the cleaner/conditioner the better it is usually. I would never use armorall. Lexol is great

I tried Meguiar's Gold Class Rich Leather cleaner/conditioner on my front seats and centre console. It made the leather appear a lot darker and added a sheen. I am not sure that I like the look. Kind of a wet look. Kind of like suntan in a bottle. I can see where I did not get an even application...LOL.

Used to use CAPO Neatsfoot oil, but it is messy stuff and I don't think I will use it on this car. Not sure what else to try at this point. I do find the wipes easy to use and more convenient. Does seem to come at a price.

Not sure about the spray as I never used it. If you spray it in the car will it get over-spray all over everything? That is what I would worry about as well.

Yeah I guess overspray would be the main concern. But I have used leather protectants on wallets, shoes, girlfriend's purse etc., and it's awesome. Not one stain and it almost makes the leather bullit proof.

I remember hearing the sales guy saying that they spray the cars with some sort of teflon spray coat to protect and it's in the warrenty. I think it was more of a sales gimmick and BS.

I don't know. I know about all the conditioners and cleaners, and they do enrich, but I was wondering about using the same spray that protects shoes and sorts...especially on the bolster and seats...

I clean it with the Z-9 spray by Zaino, wipe it with a soft brush or cloth & then just rub the Z-10 in by hand!

I just ordered Leatherique Pristine clean. Lets see how it does. From what i hear from you guys its pretty great stuff.

How about scuffs where the leather looks really pretty good just the charcoal color is scuffed off?

Used to detail for Mercedes and we used ColorPlus Soffener for leather care. Its all natural and basically contains pure lanolin oils and other non-distillate cleaners. I have used it for years on my M3 and now my C63.

Its pretty amazing stuff. Rag always comes out dirty (though i can't tell on how clean leather is because black interiors). Leather is super soft and supple after. When i sold the M3 recently, everybody was amazed at how perfect the seats looked.

I just picked up some Leather Care from Griot's Garage. I just had slight creases starting to show in the bolsters and just a small application of this stuff seemed to soften up the leather enough to make them disappear. It sounds like a lot of the other products mentioned do essentially the same thing though, so I wouldn't hesitate to try any of those.

But even more importantly, I take extra care when entering and exiting the car. I make sure my butt isn't constantly rubbing the bolsters when I get in and out.

Leatherique combo is not for weekly or even monthly maintenance. It's a deep cleaner and should be used half yearly at the most or yearly usually. Pick up a good leather cleaner/conditioner like Optimum Protectant Plus, 303, 1Z Lederpflege, Chemical Guys Leather Conditioner, etc

i hate it when passengers SIT on the side bolster.

I always have my left leg cocked up as well so its not putting excess strain on it as well.

it helped that my ex was 95 pounds but still...12 months of her sitting there started to show some wear lol

+1. Why do people have to SIT on the poor bolster? Move to the middle already! We really gotta be careful with those bolsters or you could be chipping off pieces of leather faster than you wrap the whole seat in a garbage bag...

Thats why I was wondering about the leather spray, the same stuff used on shoes and wallets, etc...

In my experience, while the type and brand of product you use does differ the end result slightly, the main goal should be to keep the leather moisturized in general. I have gone through two products: yes I tried the Armorall stuff (its not that horrible) and Meguiars. I actually preferred the Armorall.

Squirt onto a fine sponge and rub in gently. By keeping the leather moist, conditioning every month or month and a half, my seats look like new. I notice that if I have been slacking and haven't conditioned for two months, creases that were invisible before start to show again.

You know you're a car nut when you find it extremely refreshing to watch the leather suck up the conditioner, like watering a plant or something. Yup.:boink:

Just do not slop it on so much it clogs holes ..

A little will go a long way

Swissvax is all you need. It's expensive but works wonders and they have touch-up/dye kits for areas, like the bolster, that tend to fade from constant contact. There are other good brands too, but just wanted to share my thoughts.

I have the white leather interior so obviously it gets looking dirty and dingy pretty quick... Especially if you wear dark clothing, ESPECIALLY denim jeans.

I use the Chemical Brothers cleaner and conditioner. The cleaner is almost magical. One quick spray and 2 or 3 wipes, and there hasn't been a stain I've come across that it hasn't absolutely destroyed. The conditioner is great too, and prevents a lot of dirt or dinginess in the first place. Smells good and keeps the leather looking and, more importantly, feeling brand new.

I'd highly recommend it.

After watching a youtube video I might also try the Leatherique kit. It really seemed to make a difference, on an e55.
