Odd 3-4 shift
So I've had a tune now for a couple of weeks and ever since it went on the car shifts oddly from 3rd to 4th. I can reproduce it everytime on the 1st such shift, doesn't matter if the car is at normal operating temps (oil and water) or not. Basically it feels like a flare, ie the RPMs increase momentarily, then it drops into gear. With a decent amount of throttle at the time it can be quite intense, almost like the tranny thinks it's a downshift and tries to blip the throttle. Oh and after that 1st shift it generally doesn't occur again but this morning on the drive into work it happened numerous times (mind you it was +16F outside). I've spoken with MHP and they say they've never heard of such a thing. Any ideas?

Paying even more money to a different tuner is not a fix ;) My only concern is could this be damaging the tranny in any way?
|
I believe he is suggesting to send your ECU back to your tuner to reflash (should be at not cost other than shipping).

i thought this was normal

+4F outside bump.

hmm, i experience something similar but only on 1st to 2nd shift and only when cold and if the car hasnt been driven for a couple of days and if i give it abit while its cold. I generally let my car idle for a minute when cold or not driven for a while before i drive. For me what happens is, the revs go up then goes into next gear. But it doesnt always do it either, how ever its been there before i got my tune.

Only happened once so far - did anyone find out what this was related to - could it be TCU ? Thanks Newbie |
does the engine make a big noise? like a huge rev??? when i down shift and hit the gas it makes a big a$$ noise like a REV building up? does this have to do with anything?
|
No its more like a kickdown - or a blip - as I as only cruising along normally.
|
Sounds like the converter partially unlocking letting revs slip up (if you are cruising with very gentle throttle at low rpms in a high gear) and then the ECu realizing it needs to change down a gear
|
Thanks Buttnekid, is this a fault - or sometimes happens?
|
Ohhh when ur just driving regular it revs up??? weird never happened to me yet.
But if u want to have some fun . i have no idea if this messes up the car. but from shift from 4th to 3rd or 3rd to 2nd. and hit the gas as soon as u down shift. it will make crazy rev and kind push the car faster? i need to figure out if this is bad idea for me to do |
Does it occur around 4k RPM?
|
It happened at 2000RPM - just decided to shoot up to 2,500 rpm on its own like a small blip
