Thanks for all the replies... I'm over it now...
quite funny how life turns out: I'm in the clinic today (I'm an orthopedic surgeon) and I ask one of my patient what he does for a living... "I'm a paintless dent remover" he says! I talked to him about my problem and he said the dent can be fixed quite easily. As for the paint finish, one of is friend is a speciality car detailer (he does exotics and luxury vehicules...) He will mention my problem and I should get a good deal (if his knee turns out fine!)
I will wait for hisevaluation and after I will go to the dealer to see their version of it...
Keep you posted!

Haha, orthopods make a lot less up here in Canada then you can in the states. Dont get me wrong, still good money but take a stroll in a doctors parking lot in Boca Raton and then one in Canada... And plus who doesn't want a good deal.

I feel your pain...I stress each time I park it somewhere...it reminds me of the first time I ever parked my old c350 in a parking lot 2 years ago...came back, a big scratch and bump magically appeared on my driver door!
nope that was mine getting it align !

OK got estimate from autolux friday... 3500-4000$.
Need to repaint door + front fender (also damaged, missed it!)
So big money for a scratch that would cost 500$ on a regular paint car!

Thanks Anthony for the tip. I went to Jaguar detail shop on Chomedey today (I always go there in the spring for the "big" detailing). They have great guy who does dent removals. He had to remove the door to go from underneath and he managed to do a damn good job. The dent is completely gone.
The next step was the scratch. after the 4k estimate from last week, I was a bit worried. He got details over the weekend that matte paint could be buffed and then "debuffed" with a special paste (made by 3M). We did a trial inside the hood (where we buffed last friday and it was shiny) and it came back pretty good with just a quick rub. We then made a trial inside the door frame since the door was off. Again prettyimpressive results.
So he went ahead and buffed the scratch on the door... it was shiny as hell but with an eggshell kind of fiinish (I was thinking to myself "buff the whole damn thing to a shiny silver and get over with it... but with that eggshell thing, it was not a possibility!...). After the paste the result is quite good. Not perfect but 90% from perfect. It is still a bit shinier but you really have to look hard and focus on the area. He did a blend to soften it up. All in all, for 325$, they made me like the car again!! Plus I have an estimate from the Jaguar bodyshop at 1300$ for a repaint if I decide the result is not good enough. Way better than 4000$!!
I showed it to a friend wgo didn't know where the scratch was and he couldn't tell after looking hard. After telling him then he said "Ya I can see a bit of a difference but..." So quite happy guy here. I love the car again!

Glad you got it fixed on the cheap.
I'm sure the more you live with it, it will become even less noticeable.
And at least you got a game plan for the next time something happens.

Hey kart: is there ANY chance you could get the two product names he used and post them here?

Is anyone's BS metering going off the chart with our so-called ortho surgeon here? Lol, I mean, you go through all that education but still writes with elementary school level grammar? Pics post of your car Kart

Sorry I dont have the product names but I can get them for you. I will call at the shop to ask.
As for my grammar, I'm sorry to have offended some of you, but since I'm a french canadian, I consider my english is pretty good (better than some american folks on here for sure!).
Relax and enjoy your cars guys! This is what this forum is all about!

here is the link for the product. Make sure you apply it with a wet cloth/sponge and "scuff it" lightly, wiping it off with a wet clean cloth. I would probably take the car to a detail guy if I was you.

BTW don't sweat the grammar *****. Most of us English speakers don't know an orthopedist from an arthropod.

(Seriously blackstar - that was the funniest thing I've read in months. You made a fool of yourself with that post.)
(Unless you claim to have made the errors in your post deliberately and ironically. If that's the case, MY BS meter will be going off the chart.)
