C63 Tire PSI
Guys what PSI are you running on the 18' stock wheels? I saw the recomended pressure and they seem a bit high. Any insight to this would be very welcomed.
Thanks
Thanks

Not that I have a lot of time with the car but I'm running 38 cold. The recommended tire pressure is WAY too high to maintain any level of comfort and would likely cause tire wear in the centre of the tire IMO. When I picked up the car, the dealer had the tires set to 42 and I lowered it.

When it's just me in the car or with one other passenger I like the tires to be 39psi all around or 38 (fronts) 40 (rear). Somewhere in that range.
So, if it starts off at like 36-38 psi cold, I'm comfortable.

I am running mine at 39 cold front and rear. They are still pretty hard at that pressure and don't like rough pavement much. Higher pressures are for higher loads.

I would like to be educated about these cars having such high psi from the factory.

The tire pressures are that high because the factory has to assume some knucklehead is going to get in his cold car, crank it up, and immediately merge onto the autobahn.
I run relatively high pressures (38-40 cold), but you can run lower, esp. if you don't push the car very hard. As the tires warm up, the pressures will rise. Of course, by how much depends on how you drive and the weather. When warm, I think that 36-40 is fine. That might be 32-36 cold. As they say, your results will vary. And with the lower pressures, your tires and wheels are more likely to be damaged by potholes, etc.

My vehicle was delivered recently with 40+ psi in the tires. I discovered this the morning after when the tires were cold. I set the tires to the minimum shown on the gas filler door chart, 33 psi all around, + 2 psi to allow for widely varying winter temperatures. So far, we have not gone below the minimum.
Every car+wheel+tire combination is slightly different. That is why auto makers place the information where you see it most often. My wife knows where to look.

Re-read my original post. Then go read the information on the gas filler door. There is a chart with two columns. The first column is for light loads indicated by pictures of 2 people and 1 or two pieces of luggage. The other column is for the maximum load of the car and shows pictures for the total passenger count and several suitcases. There are entries on the table for front and rear tires, light and maximum loads.

Don't forget we're running 18" wheels with low profile tyres....and the less pressure you run, the more "give" there is in the sidewall of your tyre.....so if you hit a pot-hole, or a rock etc, if your tyre wall compresses more because of lower pressure, you are more likely to suffer tyre & rim damage. Unfortunately,I have learned this by experince.
I wouldn't be going under 38 PSI cold.
Cheers, Pickles.

IMHO, 33/35 PSI is too low.

Am I speaking in tongues???????????????????????
My example was just that. An example of what I do with different wheels & tires. The principle is the same. Go by the information supplied FOR YOUR CAR, WHEELS & TIRES.
Wake up people.

Well I'm at 37 on all 4 and the car feels much better than 41front and 44 rears. I just put on Invo's from Nitto and they are great, very quiet tires and boy they do bite into a corner. I was taking an on ramp ( in Mexico ) and my car just stuck very very wheel and I really pushed the tires.
Just FYI from a very picky driver this tire sure feels pretty sweet.

what are the default cold pressure for 19inch wheels, for cars that come with 19 from factory?

I don't mean to thread-jack, but I often get the "Correct Tire Pressure" message. I'm not sure if that means the TPMS is showing an error (low tire pressure), or if it just means confirm tire pressure is good, and reset the TPMS baseline.
Bummed I have an '09, and no tire pressure display on the console.

or
The tire inflation pressure values of the individual tires differ from each other significantly.
Check and correct tire inflation pressure as required.
Restart the Advanced TMPS.

That message means the tire inflation pressure is too low in at least one tire.

Now today (5 days after I got the car back), again I got the "Correct Tire Pressure" notification after a short (10 mile) drive (no more than 100 miles since I get it back). I checked tire pressure, and it seems normal (if not high):
Front: 38.5, 39.0
Rear: 42, 41
I can't think of why this sensor would be triggering. I do know that I added the backup camera via DIY style, but I had specifically used a CCD camera (Kenwood CCD-2000) since I had read there is no chance of interference.
Any others have this issue?

Your pressures don't look out of line to me but I am not sure how sensitive the TPMS sensors are. Try resetting the TPMS and see if it will hold.
Not sure about interference from your BU camera but if you continue to get TPMS messages turn it off and see if that fixes the problem.
I have heard of others saying they need to reset the TPMS once in a while and that sometimes it takes a few resets to get it to hold.

Well... I thought I had this beat, and then got sucker punched!
I had reset the TPMS settings every time I saw the warning message "Correct Tire Pressure" (about 4 times in one day). And then everything seemed good for about 2 days.
Then I got this message (see image). So luckily I was pulling into a gas station (a common occurrence in the C63).
Tire pressures:
Front: 37.5/38
Rear: 40/39.5
Everything seems normal, but this new alert has me concerned there is an issue with the TPMS. I'll have to do a dealer drop off next week. I only have 30 days of warranty remaining before CPO kicks in. I wonder the TPMS is covered (would this be classified as a "sensor" in the CPO coverage under Electrical?).

Just to give an update on my issue regarding "Correct Tire Pressure" and then the sudden red dash warning and tire pressure icon on the dash board.
I brought the car into the dealer with the red dashboard indicator lit up (happened twice in 3 days, and never before that, only the "Correct Tire Pressure" previously). They took the car in, and checked all the sensors, and then looked at the car's programming. They found that there was no low tire pressure threshold values programmed. So they plugged in some values (they said) and drive my car 10 miles ()) and did not get the warning.
I've had the car back now for 4 days and it's been fine so far, no warning of any sort related to the tire pressure.
So far so good!

Good to hear that you got it sorted out. What PSI are you running and what part of the country are you in? Here in hot as hell Miami I'm finding that 38-39 cold is where the happy medium is at.
