LSD or No LSD? CPO or no CPO?

New member here.

I'm shopping around for a used 2009 C63 and have looked at both dealer and private listed cars. I wanted to get some advice on how important you think the LSD is to the experience (and tire wear) of the car.

Also, should I be looking for a CPO car exclusively? What if I could find a lower mileage (15k) car that only has about 6 months left on the original warranty? Is a higher mileage CPO car really worth it compared to a lower mileage non-CPO car - just to get the extra year warranty?

What can I expect for the cost of an out of warranty repair? I know this can run the gamut from simple to something major, but what have some of you recently paid out-of-pocket for repairs after the warranty?

Thanks for your help and I'm looking forward to getting a C63 in the next month or two.

Whats CPO?

There are a few little bugs with the C63, but nothing major... If you get something with warranty existing, you can always extend it ($$$).

I'm in the same boat. Thanks for bringing up a great question...

Could we list the bugs you speak of?

Personally, I had one of the cam adjusters replaced as it was slightly noisy... I have warranty so I just complained to have it done rather then risk it getting worse... I could have lived with it if i didnt get worse, but why not, its free..

Secondly, the intake manifold gasket was leaking and I kept getting a lean code... Took them a few times to fix it as they start with cheapest thing first, that purge valve..

Other then that its been rock solid. Knock on wood :)

These are minor IMO. Wouldn't be worth it getting warranty to do the above jobs.

You be freaking crazy to buy a C63 S or non S without warranty. Check out AutoVlog's youtube video. His C63S AMG 2017 hydrolocked due to water getting in the intake somehow and locked the engine. His car was priced at $80,000+ dollars with extras. Insurance agent flipped with the loss when Mercedes told him a new motor from Germany costs $71,000 dollars.... If you piece out a C63 into individual parts, you looking at 120-150k dollars in parts... or more

Either get a CPO, private sale, or carmax car that is still within the 50k miles and extended the warranty through either Mercedes or carmax care....

I just recently bought a 2014 c63 coupe and was having the same dilemma. I ended up buying one with 14k miles and 10 months of original warranty. There were plenty with cpo's and more miles but i felt comfortable with 10 months of warranty left with the car having so little miles. As for the LSD my car did not come with one but that is the first thing i will do when warranty expires. My friend has one in his car and he hasn't had any complaints about it.

Ok geniuses good job replying to a 6 year old thread - thanks for bring that back from the dead, he was looking at a CPO 2009 W204 in 2012.

Also, the AutoVlog guy is a retard and drove through too much water and killed his car - totally idiot.

Hahaha i have to say i didn't see this coming... I guess it should have been a red flag that a Mercedes dealership would still have had a 2009 CPO now in 2018. Well that was my stupid act of that day. Thanks for keeping us in line!

All in good fun, at least you are not bumping old threads like RB brakes to sell us more brakes!
