Nitto NT555r on stock 18's
I need more traction off the line and want to get the NT555r's. I have read a lot of good reviews on these tires. I want to know if they fit fine on the stock 18's. Nitto told me they wouldn't fit but it seems like a bunch of people are using them and the fit fine. Should I be ok with buying the nittos and putting them on my stock 18's. Thanks guys for the help!

The 555's are good but you will still have traction problems. NT05 drags is pretty much the only thing that will help on the street. If it rains though your screwed.

Thanks for the advice. Unfortunately 285 is the narrowest drag radial i can get from Nitto. These aren't going to be my everyday tires. I am just getting them for racing. I couldn't decide between the 555r's and the nt05r's.

Sorry but wouldn't a 285 profile affect the handling as it would understeer alot more? The car is set up by AMG to work hand in hand with the chassis suspension etc etc.... Replacing the rear profile by more than 10-15mm would affect the handling characteristics I would imagine?

no need to worry about handling in the 1/4....
I ran the 285 nitto 555 on stock rims, but that really is the limit, there's almost no room.
don't drive them in the rain, unless you like to fishtail..
