My 7th AMG and the Best One Yet: C63 Black Series
The title basically says it all. I just picked up this CBS and in my short time of ownership can't be much happier. I have had many AMG's but this one, for me, has to be the best. My priors:
W210 E55
W211 E55
W215 CL65
W212 E63 N/A
C218 CLS 63TT
W212 E63TT Estate
The build on this car which I found as an order cancel at a local dealer has the following options:
Carbon Fiber Exterior
AMG Performance Media
Matte Black Wheels
Illuminated Door Sills
I really feel AMG finally has produced a car that involves the driver and makes the experience that much better. IMHO the AMG's I owned were/are great luxo cars that can go fast and handle reasonably well when pushed to the limits. This car is a much more than that. In my short period of ownership the car amazes me with its steering feel in short turn in's and high speed bends. The suspension is very compliant at slower speeds under mild undulations and firm at higher speeds. I still find this car with the coilover suspension to be reasonably docile in normal driving environments.
Where I really feel AMG stepped it up is with the ECU and TCU. I always have felt the throttle responses and shifting (up and down) had something left to be desired in non tuned cars. This is why I tuned every single one of my AMG’s; not only for HP bumps but for throttle and shift speed improvements. But this car seems to just be perfect from the factory. The throttle reminds me of my S85 and S65 engines in M6 and M3 (E63 and E92). It is so responsive and requires minimal throttle modulation. The shifting in this MCT feels (maybe placebo) better than the prior 3 MCT’s I have had or have. Now I do think the TT MCT’s are slower in response due to the turbos vs. the N/A versions but this car is much better than my E63 N/A stock vs. stock and even stock vs. modded.
The exhaust is amazing- the back fires on upshifts make me smile but the down shift back fires/blips are incredible. Even when I’m coasting to a stop the burble (word?) that comes from the double doubles is the best stock AMG sound ever IMHO. The 60% LSD lock up allows for some good launches- better than that of the CLS-TT with only a 30% lockup LSD.
So that is short version of my thoughts- here are some lower quality pics that my local shop took. We actually were able to lower the car ever so slightly in the rear (no coils) via adjusting the perch height with a 19mm Allen wrench and then we dropped the front to offset. I think the car sits about 1/8 to ¼ lower than before. I love the stock wheels on the car but the fitments are a bit reserved offset wise. The front has probably 10mm more in it and the rears approximately 7mm. I might do some spacers that are hubcentric if I choose to keep these wheels.

Curious on if you have driven a CLK63 Black Series, and what your thoughts are on comparison. Congrats! This car looks evil.

I only drove the CLKBS once and it was in a straigth line on a busier road- lots of power but I didnt have enough seat time to understand the dynamics.
The chassis feel on the CBS is incredible... Although its slower than my PCar and CLS I still want to drive it more. Its just that much fun and involving.

my wife bananas! :D
Congratz and beautiful car Vic!
I find the C63BS to be the perfect size, not too big nor small and with that engine = a beautiful combination.
enjoy in good health! (now go change that side marker)
