This is the second thread with the 4.0 liter reference for the new C63. Sounds like its true. We are living in the last golden age of high performance cars. Take advantage of it and hang on to what you've got.

Likely off the same source.

On the other hand, a TT 4.0 at 10K RPM can deliver a LOT.

If this really is true it's definitely not a C next...maybe the E-class. 4-matic sounds nice in nordic weather.

Funny how people always respond negatively to whatever is new. I remember when the 08 C63 was introduced and everyone complained. Then the 12 and everyone complained. When the cars are actually released, everyone jumps into them just as they should.

When this car comes out, it will be badass. If it is the 4.0, it will be TT and it will be capable of making a ton of power with a few mods. Never mind the fact that the car will be faster than the current C63....so if you now run high 11s stock, and you've got a better interior, and a better suspension, better mpg, and a more aggressive look....you're really going to complain about displacement? What does it even matter at that point?

Maybe you haven't drove the new 5.5TT. It blows away the M157 and M156.

It's a complete animal in stock form with PP, with a tune, it would be silly.

that table of engines did not list whether they were forced induction or not .. as u can see, it's highly unlikely a 2.0l will produce 240hp without a turbocharger. Also, a 4.0 liter producing 455 is highly unlikely, because mercedes, and most other brands, don't use the full potential of the engine for longevity reasons. And im no expert, but i think that much HP from that engine is on the upper end. One last thing, is that MB is not dumb, they probably do enough research on forums and out to know what their customer wants, and if i have learned anything from my last two cars, is that they don't disappoint. so PROBABLY a 4.0TT with a performance pack of maybe 500hp .. and tuning potential up to 700 if you change turbos and whatnot.. better deal than we have now. I personally cannot give out a naturally aspirated 6.2 liter in a german car :P with headers .. worst comes to worst ill have to lease another merc and have 2 merc sedans in my stable .. but hey if the new E can do 0-60 in 3.4 STOCK .. it can hardly be called a sedan, that should replace that gap in my life that a GTR is not filling LOL

I understand that they're goingto downsize the engines and obviously use various techniques to extract more power with lower emissions, but AMG has always been known for big engines. I hope they can still try to get a 5.5TT as in most current AMGs.

Either ways, I am happy with my P31:
Throaty Exhaust - check
Boatloads of torque- check
One of the smallest sedans with the most power - check

The nex gen C AMG will be
Throaty Exhaust - check - because they'll add supplement the aural experience by the way of acoustic tubes in the cabin
Boatloads of torque- check -maybe not - but it'll be more rev happy.
One of the smallest sedans with the most power - check - Smaller lighter engine with obviously more power.

Interesting...

I don't know if this will be V6 or V8. Either way, it's got to be turbocharged. I don't doubt the new turbo motor will make good power and great torque. It will be much tougher to match the throttle response and sound of the M156. I don't know if the new motor will rev as high, either.

Smaller motors especially turbo cars tend to rev higher since that is where the turbos perform best. Mercedes may do things differently though lol

Agreed. The money I'd lose to trade the C63 in will be more than what it would cost for a base Weistec setup.

Might just sell the estate at some point and buy a BS and keep that one... But it may of course be that the car blows our minds Mercedes does not have a tendency to do bad cars.

People are just naturally resistant to change. Same is familiar and comfortable. That said, the reverse of what you said is also true: newer isn't necessarily better, especially when the change is driven by emission standards and greenism. Also I personally think the new C63 lost some aggressiveness in its design.

And since when do people started caring about MPGs?

You guys do realize that the "famous" GTR is a 3.8L twin turbo car capable of well over 600+ HP with bolt ons right?
