C63 as a Collector Car?
Watched Barrett-Jackson this weekend.
April Rose asked Mike Joy his thoughts on production cars built now that would be collector cars in the future.
His response was that the C63 AMG Sedan would eventually be a highly sought after car in 20+ years.
I'm too old to wait. I plan to drive the hell out of mine and let someone else collect the appreciation.

maybe
As the last of the big bore NA motors coming out of Germany it might have potential. But I think it will be more on the lines of a Porsche 993 turbo (last of the aircooled 911's). They are collector cars but haven't increased in price over the original MRSP, they just haven't lost as much value. If you had put your money in a safe investment you would have come out ahead since that car was last built.

Black Series, yes...run of the mill C63, highly unlikely(no offense), there have been ten thousand plus built since their introduction. If I am not mistaken it is now the AMG with the highest production numbers of all time for a single model/body style, that means as a collector every other AMG model would likely be more "collectible" as it relates to rarity.

Good thing. I'm not living for "40 years from now". I live for today. Wear your best shoes, your nice watch, that white shirt today. Tomorrow may never come.
Even with the introduction of more upgraded models, the one before is less sought after...Look at the 2008 BS...less of a demand/interest/desire now that the new BS is here, and on and on. The 2008 BS seems like major outdated child's play now...The interior/electrics is a joke compared to today, and its only 5 years old.

^^^^ I think it will be a highly sought after track beast given the engine and output potential...like the M3 E36 model, etc...
The C63 will always be an amazing looking car with its aggressive lines and flares...

Pretty much impossible for a normal run of the mill non BS AMG to be a collector's car. Therefore, drive it and don't let it be a garage queen. You are only losing money if you don't drive it. Yes, drive it in the winter, too. Make it a DD, that is.

my wife bananas! :D
might be alot built but how many c63s will survive 20 years? i would say a large number of them will be junked by then.
i can see the BS for sure, with the normal c63 being a less yet still desirable collectors car

But ya, there's much better investment opportunities than cars haha. Even if you stored an EVO new and sell it today, with all the storage and maintenance costs, you're looking at breaking even.

One thing I've noticed collecting cars is that rarity does not make a car desirable and desirable cars aren't always rare, so don't count out the C63 just because of its fairly high, by AMG standards, production numbers.
That said I don't know what the future holds for C63 values but I'm gonna enjoy mine as much as I can during my time with it, 20 years from now memories and experiences will likely be worth more than the cars

Wait 20-30 years, the CLK BS will be a sought after collector's car. Look at the EVOs, they're underpowered, outdated, 20+ years old, and now fetching over MSRP for cars in good shape even with high mileage. Every limited edition Mercedes is going to be a classic to a degree. FWIW, there's 500 Evo 1's and 500 Evo 2's if I remember right, in line with the CLK BS production numbers.

The Evo IX value is on the raise.

Im a sedan person, and I intend to have one in my garage forever. I think this car will have a place in Mercedes' history like the 300SEL 6.3 and the 500E. The M156 will most probably be the last motor of the large displacement NA era. I'm keeping mine.

The Evo 8 and 9 market is like that because the Evo X aren't holding their value, it happens with the Porsche 996 and Porsche 993, the 993s even though they are older they still keep the value much higher than the 996s which are newer and cost more new.
The Evo IX value is on the raise.

They're trading in the 6 figures for used cars. MSRP I think was in the 70's.

Can't believe it hasn't been mentioned yet, but I believe that the 507 needs a mention here. I think the "collectibles" could be the CBS and 507. I think any standard C63 could still be sought out, but as a collector car going at a high price? Unlikely. The 507/CBS on the other hand, that could be a different story. 1 year of production seems like something that would appeal.

The 507 is the end of the line parts dump, to help blow-out the last of the shells. I don't think it can be held in the same regard as a BS.
507's are readily available and the equivalent of a P30 package, just different options at a different point in the lifecycle
Just sayin....
