What the hell is this noise??
Hi guys,

My car just started making this funny noise when it's in Drive (no noise in reverse)


Dealer is closed, but can anyone tell me what it could be and if it's safe to drive my car tonight?

Could be heat shielding around the mufflers somehow got bent closer to the pipe, so when the engine torques, it touches.

I am not 100% and could be wrong but I don't think that's the exhaust. Very weird noise for the exhaust to be making when idling.

My guess is its the cats broken and rattling inside its housing search youtube for similar sounds.

What does it have to do with the oil? I had the message asking me to add oil 2 days ago and I did add a quart.. usua stuffl. Car is at the dealer right now, my SA said, after showing the video to the tech, that it could be either the exhaust touching the heat shields or the catalytic converter (warrantied up to 80k miles by MB). I'm at the dealer's lounge right now. They gonna lift the car and tell me what's going on.

just want to factor out internals. just in case. hard to tell sometimes online.

Lol, I just looked at the cats price. $1500 each!! My car has 79920 miles... and warranty covers up to 80k... lol

It's just a silly loose bracket. Apparently, the muffler guy didn't use it when he put the black series resonator in my car. Good, now I can breathe again. I'm done with this crap, I'm going to buy a warranty.lol
