what is better an 09 or 10

i am looking at a few dif cars

an 09 loaded with Perf Package and an 10 without - would i be better off going with a 09 or 10? are there any other major differences? I have been looking but can't find alot of info. All cars between 35K-40K miles in the $40K-$42K range

i know the 211 backwards and forwards but still learning about the 205 in particular the 63 -

thanks in advance for all the help

the 10 is a color i have never seen before - like a gold color

I would get a 2010 for sure if just for the headbolt reassurance issue or check the numbers on the 09 to see if it falls within the dreaded ones.

The 09 would be more fun to drive but as mentioned you would have fear of being affected by the headbolt issue.

Last month I ran the VIN of every single 2010 for sale, and did not find a single car that had the "new" headbolts. The 2010 models have the same headbolt issue as the 09s. In short, I think the biggest difference between 09 and 10 models is the improved iPod integration.

Really? I haven't heard of a single 2010 having the headbolt issue but that's not to say I hear everything or even most things.

I could be wrong, but ran every VIN of every 2010 on autotrader through EPC and not one of them had an engine number above or equal to engine #60658 (where the fix was made).

I keep seeing people say that "some" of the 2010s are safe, but I have not encountered one. They started manufacturing the 2011 models right around when the fix went into place (Summer 2010).

You could most definitely be right bro.

I am asking any 2010 owner or anyone who knows any 2010 owner that had this prob to post up. So far, I've seen none but again, that's not to say no one has had it.

thanks guys - the 2 2010's both have some warranty left and can prob purchase an extended one - one is at an Audi dealer and one is at a MB dealer - may be better to get the one from MB dealer and make sure it is CPO.

but LSD doesn't make or break my decision as my 211 55 doesn't have it and i have never had any issues with it -

You would want to get an aftermarket LSD at least.

My 2010 has held up great and still has 2 years of Warranty left so I find that to be a pretty deciding factor, plus I got it for a great price.

i went from an '09 to a '10 and haven't looked back. the 2010 had options that i didn't have before and options that were not available on the 09 like my keyless go.

this thread might help
https://mbworld.org/forums/c63-amg-w...-2010-c63.html

and i've got about 54000 miles on my car with no major issues... so hoping it'll keep going strong

Besides more warranty et all I would skip on the PP model and get a tune on the 2010 instead.

Well, if 2010s are affected, then OP is back to square 1.

the biggest concern, like you said, should be that most 2009's won't fall into warranty coverage..

I just picked up my 2010 a couple months ago with 41k for $39k, and it still has 6 months left of warranty!

I can assure you many of the 2010s have the issue including mine.

Ya need the engine number to be sure.

Joe

Go with whatever car you feel is right for your driving style. IMO if you don't track the car you don't need LSD for a daily driver. You still can get a tune and aftermarket LSD afterwards. Save those $$$ for mods or extended warranty ;-).
The only thing i would look for would be a MY 2010 with a decent mileage and price. Why? Because a '10 has better good looking mirrors and maybe a few additional options like backup camera and keylessgo. But I think these are rare (in the US).

if the car has the headbolt issue and has been fixed then all is ok right? or if not and if car is CPO or if i get extended warranty then i am at least covered during the covered time.

lsd not as big a deal for me as it will be mostly used as a daily driver and to take my son (who tells me to "punch it" all the time in the E) to school.

i appreciate all the help - i'm also trying to get rid of my GL lease (7 months left) so hope i can do these in tandem - the one at the MB dealer is listed at $42,900 and if i go forward with them i am going to try push them to $40-$41K out the door - ill keep you all posted - as always this site has proved to extremely helpful.

Thanks guys - well there goes my idea of selling mine to get a 2010 cause I was afraid of the headbolt issue on mine.
