Need your input re: purchasing a 2012 C63 BS
Hi Folks. This is my first thread so pardon if this was already asked.
Anyway, funds have cleared, just waiting for work-bonus to be deposited to my checking account and most importantly, got approval from the wife to buy a used C63BS.
Since a few folks here owns a C63BS, if you were to do the whole purchasing process over again (but a used one), what are your top 3 things to do/check/concerns and what would be a good price point? Would love to get everyone's guidance.
Here's what I have in mind but tentative depending on the feedback I get.
1. CARFAX
2. consider mileage?
3. damages (or will this be included in CARFAX)/wear and tear
I would still pay ~$125K out the door.
Thanks guys in advance.

my wife bananas! :D
hey sickfox... exciting times for you.
buying a used BS would be similar to buying a normal c63 (will let the BS owners add on the differences if there are any)
besides the ones you have listed (and i hope there are zero damages to a BS btw)....
- check life of tires, brakes, will help to determine if the car has been tracked
- obviously a test drive to make sure it handles the way it should
- what is the inservice date? (i would suggest you get ELW as everything will be expensive to repair)
ultimately its really to determine if there was any abuse to minimize future 'surprises'. with warranty, you can fix alot of the stuff afterwards.

Congrats on the upcoming purchase The cars haven't been around that long, but a standard service check up should give you enough info. And like Fung63 said, a test drive, but that's a no brainer i suppose. Post pics when you get it!
I don't get it...isn't the whole point with a black series to track it? As far as i'm concerned that's what it is made for.

Thanks for the input folks! For me, if the car has been track, it's not a show stopper. I just want to find out if there are things/parts that needs to be replace soon to prepare me for expenses. And yes, a test drive is a must.
Nelly, here's what I've been eyeballing for the past few months.

I was thinking about waiting until Q4 of 2013 to get one so I can push down the price a little bit to maybe around $118K-$124K. Is that too much, too low?

Too high. Later this year prices should come back down to reality. Just my opinion, but $140k on a $110k MSRP is too much. Even now if you find one lightly used chances are you'll save a TON of $ in comparison.

Hello from Aus.
Don't see many of them over here, but from what I've seen on forums etc, both of those cars appear to be over priced.
Cheers, Pickles.

2012 C63 AMG BS, 2010 DUCATI 1198S
Those are way over priced. I paid MSRP for mine from a MB dealership, and it was the second one to arrive to the states. NexLogic took delivery of the first one a week prior. It's an amazing machine, but the bottom line is, it's still a car. Cars depreciate. That's just how it is. If your looking at a used one, I wouldn't pay over $100K depending on the options it comes with.

I paid MSRP $130K'ish for my 2012 brand new, fully loaded aero pkg/track/pkg/multi-media optioned car last July. You should not pay a penny over $120k for an aero pkg car now days and $100-$105K for the far less in demand non-aero pkg car.

I WALK...
I have a silver C63 Black series with 11k miles, full clear bra on front end/side skirts/rear bumper that I'm looking to sell. I'm the Original owner
Car is in So-Cal. PM me if interested. I paid over sticker for it but that's my loss, impulse buy. Love the car to death but I need a 4 door...

Welcome to the club... its a great car. I paid about 122k for my C63 BS. It had matte black paint, aero pack, track pack, amg performance, cf exterior, matte black wheels, rear seat delete - pretty much everything. It had 4k miles at the time.
I agree with Jim, now, you should be looking at 120-122k for a fully optioned BS. Prices will go down, but not by as much as everyone on here thinks. There are only 130 in the US, and if the CLK63 BS is any indication, prices won't depreciate as fast as other AMG cars.
Top three things to check:
1. Have they adjusted any of the OEM adjustable things: suspension, spoiler angle, etc. Indicates either they tracked or did something else with it... which is not bad, as long as your okay with it and no ahead of time.
2. Tires... the track pack tires wear out at around 4-5k miles if you drive softly.
3. Rock chips and dings.. those flared fenders love rocks. that's why I wrapped my car in a clear bra equivalent of matte paint (satin guard).
CARFAX these days should be a given, but be aware most people nowadays who have the money to buy cars like these can just have someone repaint/fix damage to the body without having it reported to CARFAX. It just takes cash. So look over the paint carefully and make sure there are no obvious changes in the quality of the paint.
Mileage? Well, I'd be wary of a car with 20k miles. Most cars are one year used and few a driven as dailies... so 10-15k should be the most you would see.
HTH,
Rich
