Long story short, i got a CEL this morning, didn't think much of it till this shelby parked next to me in a garage started revving. Correct me if i am wrong, but i dont think my car has ever passed the 4k rpm mark while revving in P. Well, it definitely reached 5k, 6k, and 7k rpm while in park when i was revving. Is something wrong?

I am currently running a CATLESS v4 EC tune, no other mods.

It's been established that in P there is an rpm limiter that caps you to 4k or so. Whether the car limits this or not, revving in P or N is not good for the engine. Please avoid.

Thats why i'm confused, it used to limit it to 4k.

But i got the CEL this morning, and now theres no cap? Can't be a coincidence.

i thought if the car is remapped it will rev more in park,i was also told this is one way to tell if your car is remapped,i cannot confirm this though.

I can rev higher the 4k rpm not sure if its because i am tuned but I wouldn't be worried regardless, enjoy it dont be worried!

If you have a CEL the first thing is to get the car plugged in to check for codes on Star.

I would say don't worry - this happened to me on my car.

Reved it too much at start-up, got CEL, took to the store and they cleared the codes...

All was good and nothing needed repaired.

eurocharged tune gets rid of the 4k limit... i learned that a few years ago...

Ahaha thanks for all the replys fellas! Took it in, was just throwing codes. Cleared the cel, havnt had a problem 30 miles later

Yeah, cel went away on its own! Tech told me redlining too much causes a CEL. Guess i gotta let off the throttle a bit
