If there is nothing in the manual against it, then you should be good. I did not find anything in my manual related to only doing it at a standstill. Maybe I missed it.
Obviously I would avoid doing when you are hard on the throttle.

my wife bananas! :D
if it was something that can hurt the tranny... wouldnt MB restrict the ability to switch while car is in motion?
plus after so many years now, if there were any problems, the forum would know.

This thought also came into mind weeks before and I came to the conclusion that it won't affect anything. The reason being because your only changing how the transmission behaves, meaning the shift points. It's not like going from D TO PARK.

I do it all the time, never had any problems. I agree with Fung63, if it was bad for the tranny, the car probably wouldn't let you change it while in motion.

yea.. agreeable to the posts above..
just be sensible about it..
the way i do it is when i'm either stationary or cruising without accelerating, i switch modes when i have to.. done it since 2008, so (touch wood) there has been no issues..

Sure hope so I've been doing it from day one lol
Yeah it's fine, in fact I'd think its better to switch to S+ or M before getting on it as it increases shift firmness which should translate to less wear on the clutch packs under hard acceleration.
