service B questions
so what all is included in this service? from what I gathered in the manual, its an oil change + a bunch of random checks n tire rotations + air filter and cabin filter change. is there anything else required? (just want to make sure)
The dealer wants 590 to do this, which i dont feel like paying 590 for an oil change. Could I just ask them to do the oil change and filters? Or I might just DIY it and keep receipts.
also, for air filters is it worth it to upgrade to performance filters or stock is more than enough.
thanks

From my research, the above things are all that is included in the B service, which is what I did myself yesterday, except for the cabin filter b/c it hasn't arrived yet.
Other than the dealers, I found the correct oil at Pepboys only (lucky me, they gave me a $20 coupon to use then), no other auto parts store carries the M mobil 1 that I have been able to find. I had to get my filter through O-reilly auto parts and ordered the cabin filter through autohauz. I've reset my service indicator and all seems to be good for now.
The car is using some oil, no leaks that i've found so I bought an extra qt of oil to keep up with the usage.

not sure but around 230 bucks with the cabin filter. I'll do the next in between interval oil changes myself using a mityvac, but I thought just to have a relationship with my service dept as well as draining out all the oil from the oil cooler i'll have the dealer do this one

I had it done at the dealer was around 150 w tax. I believe if you DIY it would be around 90-100 for oil change.
Cabin filter is around 60.
I just follow the manual regarding oil change which is ~10k although i actually changed both times closer to about 8-9k. Thinking about starting to do in between oil changes now since im at 18k miles

Cultivate a good relationship with your parts guy at the MB dealership. You will find that they will give you a good deal, and at the same time, you now have a record of your purchases at the dealership, which can be used in conjunction with your own documentation to substantiate the services being performed if the service history comes into question during a warranty dispute (I have not had a dispute yet, but its good to keep your behind covered).
Typically, for 10 quarts of oil, and a filter, I pay around $80

Like I said, cultivate a relationship with your dealer's parts department. Without going into details, early on the dealer made a mistake with apart I ordered, that mistake resulted in no major issues, but it ended with me talking with the parts dep quite abit early on, and a good relationship followed on. They now take care of me when I come in every 5k miles (the intervals at which I change my oil).
Obviously my situation is unique, and your experience may differ, but it never hurts having a good relationship.

Just make sure that you get the Mobil1 "M" instead of Mobil1 oil, it is quite different, at 6.25 per qt, I doubt you're looking at the correct oil. IIRC my wix filter was $21 at O'reilys.

Not sure but those parts are straight from the dealer which are the same one they use for oil changes

Unfortunately I was already 1 month late on my B service, so I decided to lube up my anus. I paid ~$650 for a 1 hour service B. On the bright side, I went to discount tire and they prorated my Michelin PSS 275's and discounted me 80% on my next set aka ~$400, but reduced my new tires to 265 since they updated new specs and that was the max that they would install.
