Yes it seems his account has been suspended for a week according to his earlier post about being on probation.

Funny thing is that I do not sell or make any parts, I solved a serious issue all of us who track our cars face... Yet because others want such a part, I'm now facing a one week probation.

Nice!
AutoTech-- Are you out of the penalty box? What are you up to and what's the latest with your C63?

Yes I was suspended and gave the Moderator my .02c about what I think of the site for doing so. It is clear they want to promote anyone who will pay their fees... when I made it very clear I was developing a part, was not selling anything and if, and only IF I decided it was worthy would look into it.

I find it funny that they would support me when I was outing Andy and his lies for parts we STILL have not received that we paid for... two months after he swore they were shipped, but they want to suspend/ban me for working on a solution for a problem we all face when tracking our cars.

Absolutely! I think the pics help enough. I have chatted with a few people who are wanting to make them out of aluminum which I would not suggest.

The main bonding agent is a 3m high strength tape bonding the panel to the top of the plastic shroud for the trans cooler. Using aluminum would allow heat to soak and weaken the tape bond. I think high density plastic or Carbon would be best. I had a chance for the first time yesterday to even drive the car since OLOA, so I will try to remove the panel I made to scan it for a downloadable template.

Is there anyone in the Houston area with a 2012+ I can see if this will fit their cars too?

I wonder how much just changing the oil to XPR40 helped if we don't have the close out panel? Does anyone know?

Closeout panel appears to be just a radiator shroud?

I took the mobile 1 out of my car the next day I got it. I personally run redline but royal purple is great oil.

Curious to know. Why you went with RL instead of M1 ?

M1 has changed in the past few years it works fine for the street but not a very good oil for the the track or allot of heat.

Redline is great stuff, I use the 40wt in my race car. I would never put Royal Purple in any car I own.

I know this is an old post, but it's completely wrong. The E46 M3 was always spec'd with Castrol, not Mobil 1. The recall involved new rod bearing with increased clearance, as well as a move up to a different weight Castrol oil.

Just an FYI for everyone, while i understand I don't have the close out panel, I put in the Royal Purple XPR 10-40 in the car. I don't see any difference from what was put on the car by the dealer just a few weeks ago as a normal service A service. Buy I also have never seen my C63 rising and lowering temps as fast as the video posted here... I mean in the video here I see temps changing almost every second and going from 217 to 230 on a matter of a few seconds of WOT... I don't understand. Does anyone else's car temps change that rapidly under load? I was able to get the car to 284 degrees of oil pretty easily (outside temps 90 degrees) with a few min of WOT in 2nd and 3rd gear. Confused!

I'll just leave this here...

Keeping Your Cool!!-fullsizerender.jpg

Template on top (cardboard). 5mm Dragonplate carbon fiber on the bottom. Going to check final fit today, then cut the carbon over the weekend. Will install next week, but won't have any real (quantitative) results until the late spring when track season starts.

FYI, your panel was quite a bit different than mine (2012+). There are additional supports all up and down the top of the rad support (see the slots cut all across mine). Also the ends are different shape.

This page helped out a lot: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?...6576131&type=3

Thanks for the pointers Autotech dudes. Will let you guys know how it all turns out.

Cheers

I'd be happy to put up the dimensions once I've made sure the fit is perfect. I used 5mm carbon fiber plate for the first one, and it's just way too heavy and thick to use. Have some 2mm carbon/balsa sandwich plate on the way, and expect that to be much easier to work with.

I'm not making any more of these than I have to however. It's way too dangerous for me to get all that carbon in the air again, dremeling away here in my NYC apartment haha.

Any benefit for us that don't get the opportunity to track very often but still drive hard when we take ours cars out? I'd do this for shizzle.

In theory, yes. In practicality, the dealer will refuse the repair, you will pay the bill, you will search for a competent lawyer to take your case on a contingency, your lawyer will try to find an expert who can outwit their smooth talking German engineers with AMG pasted on their shirts, and then, if you are lucky, you will get a jury that will see through the smoke and rule in your favor.
