I'm sold if its a 4.0TT(450-480HP), AWD, DCT and 2-300lbs lighter. Then again the early renderings and spy pics don't make the W205 look so hot. Time will tell!

I hear ya.
But, if it's a 5.5 liter, it will be the ULTIMATE daily driver.

More displacement, means more low end torque and more power on pump gas.
I'm dying for a 5.5L TT.

There will be a clear delineation. You want big power.....you pay $90K+ and get the 5.5TT in the E/CLS/S/S Coupe/GL/G

You want quick agile performer....you pay $60K+ and get the 4.0TT

Everything in this thread is specualtion, except for some of the spy shots
+1.

Don't forget that displacement is not directly related to weight. As far as I'm concerned, they can use the same exact block as the 5.5L TT and just destroke it to 4.8-5.0L. That will create differentiation.

Either way, we're probably looking at a V8TT, which is not going to disappoint. I just hope that they retain the drivability of the M156 in the new drivetrain.

Regardless what the next generation C class AMG engine is going to have. It won't be a light weight. It will still be pushing 4k lbs. I would like this as a daily driver though.

What I am liking and is certain is the DCT. Thats big news. Read an interview just yesterday however stating the c63 eill be kept as a RWD vehicle for now. They feel the c63 has the purpose of being a fun car and that at this time it will remain rwd. I have no objection to that.

Weight will be the biggest issue and therefore a smaller motor will be paramount (no AWD also helps weight). I am all for a real M3 fighter with a real DCT (that doesn't overheat). The current C63 is almost there. It can dominate the M3 on fast tracks, but is still not as agile ultimately. I've had and tracked both.

4.0 V8 TT will have tons of torque don't need a 5.5 for that Look at the 335i or other highly boosted turbo motors including the A45. I agree with the comments here --while all is speculation-- that MB will not offer the big motor in the C AMG anymore. This is it's main performance mass seller and it will want it to be competitive while offering the larger motor with its broader power band in a higher model.

With their most recent 2.0T pushing 350 ponies it should be relatively easy for them to achieve 450 HP with a V6 3.0T. I'm hoping they will keep the V8 in there but I'm just not seeing it in this age of downsizing.

Mercedes will use what is most cost effective. They will also want a clear delineation between the model ranges. We can argue (hell, that is what the internet was desigend for anyways, oh and ****) all day long about displacement, turbos, blah blah. In that case, I would like MB to drop one of those 2.4L F1 V8's into any one of our cars :P

Besides, rules for 2014 moved to 1.6 or 1.8L V6 (I cannot remember which and I am too lazy to search the intarwebs). Which means, they will be pouring money into making V6's more powerful, the only downside, V6 just does not make the same noise a V8 makes.

+1 They would be silly not to (which means it won't happen). The big motor in the little car is what made the C63 great. How many of you would have bought a C63 if it kept the 355hp 5.5L that the SLK had until recently? I wouldn't have.

+1 on that. It's the only car that's a blast to drive in the snow. Pretty much everything else that's 4WD will give you the grip and utility but nowhere near the fun (well, maybe a Ferrari FF but I haven't driven one of those yet).

And, -1 on the CTS-V. Was briefly looking at it before I bought the Benz. It is absolutely crude in comparison in every respect.

Unlikely. Mercedes will not make a C-class car with the same engine and rated power as the comparable E-class (in this case, the E63). At any rate, if it's a forced induction engine (which it will be) and in particular a turbo instead of a supercharger, it will be relatively easy to get extra power out of it -- essentially all you have to do is turn up the boost pressure.

They'll be running 1.6L, 90-degree V6 turbos next year, with an 8-speed semi-automatic.

Somehow, I think that a blown V6 with an 8-speed MCT (unrelated to the F1 engines, of course) is what we can expect to see in the new AMG C.

I find that unlikely only because every article pertaining to the 2025 c63 discusses the 5.5L or the new "in the works" 4.0L v8. A DCT is already known, theyve stated. Rwd has also been stated, while many amg's will offer awd in the future, the c63 was said to not be one of them. I dont think theyre shooting for the fastest quarter mile so awd is not necessary.

<snip>
Absolutely correct on all counts (am a track junkie myself). But, while the current C63 is almost there with the E9x M3 on the track (it will outrun the M3 at Mosport on the uphill and through the fast sweepers, but not at the DDC or Cayuga) in terms of handling, it is way ahead as a daily driver. Once you wind up the M3 to get it to go it is absolutely sublime in terms of handling, but driving it around Toronto in February with your mother beside you is not the most pleasant experience. The C63 on the other hand drives like an S-class in comparison. That's what makes the C unique, and I hope MB will manage to retain in the next generation.

Sorry to hijack the thread.

On what? the 1.6L V6 turbos in F1 for next year or the possibility of a V6 in the 2105 C63?

From the July '13 U.K. edition of Car magazine, p. 31:

"....The flagship C63 AMG will use a 462 bhp 4.0 litre V-8 - a jump of 5 bhp - and there'll be a Black Series offering 485 bhp. The platform is also engineered for the new nine-speed automatic, but most models at launch will use the 7G-tronic instead."

The publications are also speculating. The only people who know what is going to happen, are inside the offices of Mercedes/AMG and they are not talking, yet.
