The Void Below Driver's Seat

i was driving my '13 Explorer Sport a couple of weeks ago and my lady had my cell phone on her lap and it slipped down between the seat and center console . we pulled over to get it and , like David Copperfield , that sucker was gone . i was between the front and rear seat looking and she was in the front looking and neither one of us could see anything . she used her cell to call it and you could hear it vibrate but nothing . i stuck my arm under the seat and could feel it vibrating but couldn't see anything . after moving the seat forward and backward about 100 times to look for it , i moved it all the way back and noticed a small cut in the carpet where the wiring for the seat comes through . i stuck my fingers in there cuz my whole hand wouldn't fit...and i'll be damned if the stupid phone wasn't in there . i had to rip the carpet about 1.5" to get my hand in there to get the phone . after 30 minutes , i finally had my phone back . i put the phone next to the opening before i ripped it and it couldn't have been a closer fit . i have no idea how the phone made it through because of all the wiring....but it did and it caused me a few years off my life with all the stress of trying to find it

.Rule of thumb never place paper in this compartment as the lid when slid open will take it into the Abyss of the car and taking that console apart is not easy.

Just the other day, I was reading a contract at home in my home office/library and I dropped one sheet of the contract from my desk and it shot perfectly under the toe-kick of the cabinetry and cherry floor
At first I was like "where the *** did it go?" Then I grabbed my flashlight and looked in the crack and could see it about 4" in. I freaked out and figured it was going to take a couple hours of my life to recover. I had visions of me sawing the bottom of the cabinet out. After 15 mins of sliding another piece of paper between the crack I was able to fish it out!
