knowing about the headbolt issue..
would you guys still buy the c63 if you knew there was a headbolt issue?
the ones im seeing online are out of warranty.. and you can't tell wheather or not the headbolts were changed out for the revised ones.

you have to know the engine code. if you have the vin, there are some people on here that can look up the engine code for you. Most 2011s have the new headbolts. I would look into an aftermarket warranty. don't pass up one of the greatest cars ever out of fear. get a warranty and enjoy.

just do it! although it's something that might happen, it's still not that common of an occurrence to not buy this car over it.
of the 20+ local c63s i've met that are in the affected range, there's only one case where it happened.

Respond with VINs and I'll be happy to look them up.

I'm in a similar situation. You can look up any car here:
http://www.auto-parts.spb.ru/cat/cat...&client=dr2000
Obviously it's in russian, but put in the VIN, hit the red button, then select the "Карта" button at the top right and it will give you a report that include the engine number.
Note that EVERY 2010 originally had the old headbolts as the engine switchover did not occur until 6/2010 production (2011) model year - some early 2011 had the old headbolts as well. If the last six of the VIN are over 540000 it should have the new bolts, but I'd check the engine number to be sure.

So my 2010 is sitting in my garage and I can't check the vin at the moment. My car is under warranty: if it has the old head bolts, can I have them replaced by the dealer under warranty?

They also will NOT replace them under warranty unless you have some issue.

You'd have to ask the previous owner or have a dealership pull the service history. Honestly, like the IMS problems in later model porsches, the whole issue is somewhat overblown by internet forums, but you have to take it into account when looking at used vehicles.

I know what you mean tho, its not as widespread as it seems!

Just bought one last week, best decision I've made in a long time.
I was hesitant too, but with a low enough prevalence for MB not to initiate a recall, it wasnt enough to deter me. Look for lowest miles in your price range and make sure to get an extended warranty for peace of mind.
