C63BS ride quality

Just curious if anyone could comment on the ride quality of the BS and also compare it to the regular C63? Thinking about picking up a BS to use as an everyday driver but I don't want to be punished with a super hard ride.

It's slightly worse than the C63, completely acceptable for a DD. A few of us daily drive the BS and love it.

I find the car very comfortable. I would have no worries about DD it.

I use mine almost daily and no issues. It's slightly firmer than a C63 but I certainly would not describe it as uncomfortable

Back seat passengers will disagree with our assessment though...

Friend uses it as a dd, he finds it more comfortable than his other daily, a 911 Turbo S.

Interesting. I would have thought the Turbo S would be more comfortable. An '11-12 Turbo S is one of the other cars on my short list.

To be more specific, he finds the 63 to be more practical. Has a more usable trunk, automatic transmission, and he loves the sound.

Echo to what others said, I daily drove mine for the last year and it is definitely very comfortable. Easily livable for an everyday car.

Thanks for all the input. It's really down to the C63BS, '11-12 a Turbo S, and the '14 GTR. I really love the Turbo but it sounds like the BS would be the most practical as I sometimes shuttle my 2 kids and their crap du jour around town. The BS trunk space would be helpfulin that respect.

The 911 Turbo has been my favorite car in the winters, but I had to sell it because while I could fit kids in the back, there was no way I could haul their gear around. Playing hockey? Forget about it. Even going skating with 1 kid was a stretch trying to find space to fit everything. I just ended up not driving it enough. The GTR back seats are even worse.

The CBS with the back seats has been the perfect mix of fun + practicality. Sure it's slower than the 911 Turbo or GTR on the street, but I've driven it way more than my CLK BS, 911 TT just because it can haul kids, and all their sports gear along for the ride. Some people might say I should get another car for the kids, which I do have, but if I can do the same thing while having fun, why not? That's what makes the CBS such a great DD, especially if you have kids.

I think its perfectly acceptable as a DD. It's actually about the same as my RS4 on KWV3s.

Please tell us what in your opinion is too rough of a ride? This perspective varies alot from person to person. a cl63 is probably one of the best riding cars out there, cls 63 isnt much softer than a c63. A c63 bs to regular c63 is quite a difference. Now a c63 bs to a 08-09 perforance package c63 isnt much different at all. after that they softened up the pp suspension because of all the babies.

Well you have a good point regarding opinions. You are spot on regarding the ride of the CL but I want to get a car that is more sports car like in ride and handling without being too punishing. I know I will have to give up quite a bit in the comfort department going from the CL. Regarding the CLS, I'm not to crazy about the ride in that car. The front suspension is not bad but I find the rear a bit harsh. It's a non PP car and I've heard the suspension is way inferior to the PP cars, whatever that means. I guess another possibility would be an M6 for a more sporty but not so punishing of a ride.

pp package doesnt make a big difference in the cls ride quality wise. the cls actually has air springs in the back and regular shocks/struts in the front. If you think the rear is harsh in the cls, the black series probably wont make for a good daily for you. Its very close to the ride of say an sls - non black series that is. Me personally i'd daily one, but im used to coilover race setup cars with high spring rates, harsh dampeners and bushings and the roads arent all that bad here. You really cant get much of the black series rewards on the street. Its not any faster if at all than a regular c63 - obviously slower than a 507. Its all about the brakes, handling, chassis stiffness and r-comp tires. Ever since the first time i drove the clk 63 black series i was in love and thought man this car handles so great it needs another 2-300hp to feel balanced like regular amg's. You'd probably be plenty happy with a regular c63 and save big on the price.
