WTF MBUSA????? They wont' help me with my updated folding mirrors!!!!

So last week I got my updated mirrors I got from Matt installed...only the dealer couldn't code the mirrors to fold and to have the puddle lights turn on. MY service advisor said there wasn't even an option to turn it on so they had to contact Mercedes via email and update their mainframe or some crap like that.

I get a call back this week, and my advisor is saying Mercedes wants invoices or part numbers or some crap before they proceed because people are getting these from "Europe" and some other BS (couldn't make it out too well).

WTF MB??? Anyone know what I should do? Try another dealer or would they have already flagged my VIN? I don't know why they can't do this to begin with....should I try an independent MB tech?

I'm really frustrated here. If I knew I wouldn't have been able to get these to fold, I wouldn't have spent the $$$ just for the looks.

Thanks in advance!

After speaking with the advisor again, he says MB wants part numbers because they have had people get European mirrors which are different and due to legal regulations they can't do the programming to make them work on US cars???

I'm gonna try and give em some US part numbers I guess and see if that will work, unless that will screw up programming??? Could someone with a MNY2010 PM me regarding a VI# so I can call my parts dept at another dealer?

I'm curious to know what regulations they are talking about?
As far as i see the mirrors are very similar.
So basically they are not authorized to do it?
Well if you have a good relation with your SA or a tech they should explain you in details and tell you the truth.

Yeah...that is what they are saying. He read me the email from MBUSA...so I believe him...this is ridiculous since I have more than $1000 into the parts and labor and they don't fold yet! I'm pissed. Any help out there guys? I'm waiting for part numbers and help from Matt...hopefully he can help me through this.

if i'm reading this correctly , you are saying that you bought upgraded mirrors that fold for a vehicle that didn't come with them and you are trying to get Mercedes to make them work for you

Yup....well since MBUSA decided to be a bunch of a-holes and not make it an option, yes, I have chosen to do what others have done and upgrade my mirrors...that much has been established...

Anyhow, MAtt can't gimme the part numbers and they are already installed...this is BS

Did the MY2010 have folding mirrors in the US? I don't think they did but not 100% sure. I am pretty sure that the MY2008 had folding mirrors in the US. Do the facelift models in the US have folding mirrors?

My 2010 Canadian model has folding mirrors but no puddle lights. Probably the same deal as European mirrors as far as MBUSA is concerned.

If you can find a 2008 for sale online you can get the VIN# or a 2010 as far as that is concerned.

You know it is easy to uninstall/install the mirrors. I guess you could find the part number written on them.
Honestly i don't see what having part numbers will change for MBUSA.

.....
I think only MY 09 US do not have folding mirrors. Or maybe up to 2010.
Now to get the mirrors working the option needs to be programmed i guess. What i understand is nowadays everything is VIN related therefore dealers are limited.

Which dealer are you going to?
With the new Xentry diagnostic system, most features will need the option "code" to be entered into the MBUSA database called Vedoc. Only after when the option is in Vedoc, the proper software will be made available for your car/vin. You then can update the software in your door control units.

Ofcourse, I could be all wrong, don't quote me

Did Matt advise him, warn him before selling to him? Did the OP do research before buying? Did he know what was involved? Did Matt try to tell him these may have issues? I mean, WTH?

My advice...find a new dealer. I'm guessing they could just charge you an hour of shop time and program it. This is what I was told to do...

For those wondering 2009 did not come with folding mirror option (2008s yes, 2009 no, 2010 + yes)

For 2009s you will need the new door switch too with folding button.

"Here's his latest instructions (w/c I'm just going to print and show the dealer):
the switch requires version coding...the mercedes dealership has to
enter the car with stardiagnose...and as soon as the stardiagnose
enters the car it comes up with several menu choices - they have to
choose the one that mentions retrofits of factory options...that menu
will automatically go online, the tech has to enter his/her login
data, then (s)he has to add optioncode 500 to the car's datacard and
once that is done and stored, (s)he has to flash the central gateway
and instrument cluster with (online) stardiagnose"

hope this helps CPD SLK

Zeph, I think the seller has nothing to do in this. In the FS thread, it's clear that these mirrors are folding & are updated style mirrors. It's the buyer responsibility to ensure his car has that feature.

OP, those mirrors looks x1000 time than the old mirrors as is. Making them fold was a bonus. Rock them as is, they were priced much cheaper than the stealer ship & they came pre-painted.

I wasn't told I'd have these issues after buying Euro spec mirrors no But Matt was cool enough to gimme a cool price and help me as much as possible so far...

I took the door triangular panel off and got the part numbers, but wasn't able to get a hold of the service advisor today, so now have to wait til 12/4/13 til he gets back from vacation...I'm pretty pissed...

My car didn't come with folding mirrors, which is why I need the reprogram. All my research showed it wouldn't be a problem...for instance, this thread:

https://mbworld.org/forums/c63-amg-w...erational.html

I don't know why I'm getting BS...This dealer is supposed to do the coding for free after getting the update from Benz...if I go to another dealer, I'd have to risk spending more money and it might not work...argh! Anyone in the bay area have this done by a dealer and get mirrors from Matt????

I found that and will show that to them, but I think the problem my dealer ran into is that they couldn't add that option code (it wasn't even available in my car), which is why they needed to contact MBUSA....maybe I'll just try another dealer, but I don't wanna dump more money into it...argh!

I have the door switch too with the folding button if you need it. Never got around to installing it, I just wanted the look of the new mirrors and didn't feel like dealing with stealerships any more than I have too. In fact I avoid them at all costs.

Nope..$255...it was supposed to be programmed though at that price...I'm pretty pissed...I asked for some money back since I was told $255 all in with programming and making sure they work, and they don't work...so they didn't hold up their end of the deal...

yeah you definitely could have just bought some mirror covers off of ebay for like $115 if you just wanted the updated look. sucks, but hopefully you get them to work right.

Zeph, although Ameet hasn't mentioned it, he has my support with this issue from the start and I already told him where to find the part numbers (they are on the cables of from the mirrors).

From the beginning I told Ameet that an MB dealer is not the right place to go.
An indy MB shop was the best solution.

I hope the guys at MB do their job and works this out.
