advice, tips for roll racing event
as long as nothing catastrophic happens... i should be running in a roll racing event in a few months... i wanted to hear some advice for other c63 owners who have ran the event... i'm going there to have fun... i already know i have no chance of winning... but if i can beat a couple of cars, that i would be ecstatic... afaik, i've got the lowest hp of the cars attending...
please note that i'm NA... catless lth, exhaust, filters, tune
i'm rolling on my stock 18s
i was thinking whether i should go through the trouble of removing my rear seats to save some weight... would it be worth it?
by then i should have the option of sticking with my stock 18s or modulare 3pc forged 19s...
unfortunately, i have no idea what the weight difference between them may be... could it be possible for the forged 19s to be lighter or as light as the stock 18s?
i plan on running just whatever tires that happen to be on them at the time of the event... i've never heard a chirp from my tires when going through 2nd, 3rd, 4th so i don't think i need to be worried about traction... but if i'm wrong, please let me know...
what else should i be prepared for?

Front passenger takes 5 mins to remove. Rear is a bit more work. Take spare out and kit.
Could try taking air filters out.
Use lightest wheels possible.
But if u have the lowest hp and prob one of the heaviest cars, save yourself some time and just run it as is.

Use "S" mode, downshift to 2, traction control off, stomp at 40 and enjoy the ride.
Depending on the airstrip or track will depend on your traction. The last event I went to early morning (7am start new tarmac temps into the low 40's) I was spinning a lot and have the same mods. I didnt stop spinning until well after 10am when the track got a bit warmer.

Rule of thumb I've heard is every 100 pounds removed is a tenth of a second in the 1/4 mile...but is it really worth the trouble? Good luck either way!

i was thinking of going M mode instead of S... thought it was a bit faster?
yesterday it was about 30F here... i tried a 40 punch in second gear M mode, and traction control went off... soooo i guess i do spin... but i'm sure the temps had a lot to do with it...
when may comes around, i think i'll be ok...
i definitely won't be the heaviest among the other cars... but they'll have more hp than me... =P

People recommend S mode instead of M because of the delay in the paddles it's hard to nail a perfect 7200 rpm shift at redline while S mode will nail it perfectly everytime. Just make sure you select second gear already with the paddles so you don't have a down shift delay. Our motors make power all the way to redline so it's faster than self shift at say 6900 rpm also the next gear will now start 300 rpm higher at 5200 rpm instead of 4900 rpm if you shifted at 6900. Try both see how you do it's really only the 1-2 and 2-3 that take some practice to time right.
Also what tires are on the 18's and what would be on the 19's? That might change the decision if the 19's will have stickier rubber. Can't hurt to throw in a few gallons of 100 octane either ! Or if you have a handheld tuner get a race tune from your tuner and fill up with 100 or 109.

my 18s have nexen n3000... not the best tire i know but they are long lasting and work great for me as an all season tire...
the 19s will have continental extreme dw. 285/30 on the rears...
i don't have a handheld... but i've ran race gas before 100 and it definitely increase my trap speed

OP if traction is an issue then definitely keep your traction control on. If you are spinning your are losing valuable time. This is to your advantage against higher HP cars if they have traction issues. Don't bother removing your interior you won't really gain much for the trouble to be honest. GOODLUCK!

we have similar mods i think... what else did you run during the event you attended?
you ran in S mode the whole time?
did you do a 40 roll and also try a 60 roll?

I ran S mode, traction control off, 40 mph roll 2nd gear.
I ran M mode twice in the previous event with traction control in sport and it didnt feel as fast.
Your tune should have very precise shift points and if you are dyno tuned it should be absolutely perfect for a 40mph launch. I usually lurch far ahead of most cars with similar power numbers. Really the only cars that gave me trouble were GTRs and ESS VT3 supercharged M3s. Anything else was lunch.
