If you are up to date over in the Bimmer forums, you will see why ADV got such a bad rap.

Falsified TUV reports to "claim" they had it before they actually did. Bent / Cracked wheels that were drilled incorrectly.

There are tons of horror stories. On top of that, the owner of ADV is the past owner of 360 forged. Which apparently went belly up and screwed over tons of clients who paid for wheels.

Yikes!
Kriston, I remember you from E90post, I was (SpmnE9zero) over there. I haven't been up to date with the bimmerforums at all to be honest.

You are 100% correct. The guy Jordan that owns/runs ADV1 is a crook. Just Google 360 Forged to see what he did to people before he changed that company name to ADV1. He claims they made good on all the people they screwed over when it was called 360 Forged but I know for a fact that one guy(a good friend of mine) got screwed out of a few thousand dollars, put down a deposit and never got any wheels. By the time he tried to dispute cc charges too much time had passed. The TUV issue with ADV1 is just another in a long list of Jordan lies and scams. Anyone that buys from ADV1 is rolling the dice IMO.

I don't have a problem bashing ADV1 for you. All anyone needs to do is google search some of the following keywords. There are literally dozens of threads on BMW, MB, Corvette and Lambo Forums all pretty much signing the same tune about ADV1's owner and business practices.

Jordan 360 Forged

Jordan ADV1

ADV1 TUV

ADV1 Flow Spec

360 Forged Complaints

coincidence.....I think not

The only thing I am going to say about ADV1 is that we have worked with them for 5+ years now and not once have we had any problems. We are 1 of 4 authorized dealers in the US and sell a lot of their wheels. Find a good place that knows how to work with ADV1 and you won't have a problem, I've heard quite a few problems result from customer-dealer-ADV1 miscommunication which is unfortunate. We make sure there is no miscommunication anywhere in the process and have a good number of wonderful customers on MBWorld that got their ADV1s from us and there have been no complaints about anything.

Plus they make wheels that look like this

To the vendors in this thread.

Looks aside - would you buy an ADV1 wheel over an HRE / BBS / Rays rim?

They sure are priced up there with the companies who have not only a much longer track history that ADV1 they have proven motorsport history / technology and research behind them.

If you are only after looks, there are dozens of other wheel manufacturers with similar designs and much less costly.

Thing is, most people buy wheels based on looks and brand. These wheels are luxury items and luxury items are all about how it looks and what the brand conveys.

100% correct. All of the track wheels I have ever bought were BBS, Kinesis or Fikse. None of them were nearly as nice looking as my HREs or DPEs.

While I have been known to bash ADV1, it is solely because of their business practices and lies, not because I don't like their wheels or because I think the wheels themselves are crap. They certainly make some of the nicest wheels out there.

Same here. Not a fanboy but I like the ADV.1s and am very happy with the quality, design and fitment. I was worried after reading all the negative feedback but it's all good so far.

Not every company can be as devoted to customer satisfaction as HRE
After my P41s I'll always be a HRE fanboy at heart

ADV makes some amazing good looking wheels, no doubt about that. And no shame to Pierre & Matt for rocking them cuz both your cars look sexy.

Wheels are all about personal preference, like buying a car make over another one. No right or wrong, just make sure you buy from a good dealer in case you need after sales support.

im surprised no one has mentioned CCW. They are pretty nice wheels, great customer service. I guess more popular with domestics and japs. I prefer HRE overall but these can be had for about 1/2 the price. Ofcourse buying my car with HRE's means no reason to further wheel shop for the c63.

I run CCWs on my CLK, they are light as fluck. Good wheels, just slightly lacking in the style department when compared to some of the other brands being mentioned in this thread.

Same thing with Fikse. Very light and strong wheels and a great company to deal with, but pretty limited in terms of style. They cater a fair bit to the motorsport community so I suspect their focus is on performance rather than looks.

I've never had a set so I can't speak from experience (although one set is hardly statistically significant anyway), but I understand they're flow-formed and made in the Far East. All other things being equal, the barrel on a flow-formed wheel is going to be stronger than on a comparable gravity- or low-pressure-cast wheel as the rolling process does align the molecular structure somewhat. The fact that they're made overseas keeps the manufacturing costs down, so at the end of the day you end up with a wheel that's somewhere in between cast wheels and forged ones, both in terms of strength and price.
