Reverse Camera Upgrade
Not sure if anyone else has noticed this, but the reverse camera in our cars is terrible picture quality.
When say compared to a 2009 ML63, which is very crisp.
The C63 also has a MAJOR fisheye problem, and no guide lines, to show where the edge of the rims are.
The ML63 isnt as fish eye, MCUH higher resolution and has these perfect guide lines, showing where the edge of the rim is.
Can anyone confirm, could one upgrade the rear view cam on the C63, to say an ML63 camera? Would it be a plug & play solution?
Thanks

That would be a worthwhile (albeit probably costly) upgrade.
Hell, the camera on the standard LCI C300 seemingly has better picture quality than the camera on the LCI C63. I noticed this today when driving/detailing a close friend's C300.
The cameras are probably identical but the C300's looked clearer/sharper, with less of the fish-eye/fishbowl effect.

I thought the fisheye effect was my eye....lol
Thank god it's been confirmed that our rear view cam is horrid. Compared to me S4, the c63... When I first reversed, I was like dafaq.... Still trying to get used to it...

Clarity is one of the important indicators of the camera. Generally, if the high-definition camera, then the quality of the displayed image will be better! How to buy a high-definition camera it? Shouted automotive supplies expert recommendations based network camera chip level to determine, different, different from the general sensor chip level, including the level of commissioning technician, then the same chip may show the same level of product out of the results are not the same, on the contrary, high-definition night vision products will play some discount. The number of lines reversing camera is generally how much lines of resolution high clear, for example, 420 lines 480 lines 500 lines 580 lines 600 lines, etc.

Strange, my camera hasn't been upgraded yet it's very clear, no fisheye and has wheel lines, bumper lines, wheel turning radius lines etc. maybe because I'm in Tokyo? The camera is very very important here since some of the tightest roads/ parking in the world. If my camera is high quality on my 2010 c63 and you've seen high quality on an ML, I'm sure it's possible to upgrade. Maybe a simple camera swap?

I agree. Camera is terrible. Can barely see anything and it's angled down too low. My F150 and Lexus has way better clarity. I would also like to see an upgrade.

Here's a pic.
You can see the three different colors if you look closely. They angle as the wheels turn which helps a lot.

The above pic wasn't the best, there's a shadow and also if I turn my wheels you can see the wheel lines but that was just a regular backing up pic so it was just straight lines. But as you can see, very clear and easy to see. The wheel lines are the best for parallel parking.
Here is the actual camera

What the?!?!?!?!?!
Thats amazing! Just like Lexus!
How did you get this on a 2010 C63?
Does anyone else have this? I am in Australia, and i have NEVER seen this on a C Class.
The picture quality, seems to be pretty crap (like all C class), but those lines etc.
Have you had the software updated on your Command system?
I can see on the bottom, that there seems to be an option to change from Parallel parking, to 90 Degree parking?
This is really cool. How do we change ours to this?!?!?
Thanks

The camera quality looks the same as mine. I guess we just all have different standards regarding what is considered a good camera.
I definitely do NOT have the parking guidance lines though. Very cool.
