Couldn't put car into gear...
Started my car (09 CLS63) up this am for work and I couldn't put it into reverse. The shifter moved to the right, but that was it, I couldn't pull it back to R, N or D. It appeared as if it was locked... Turned the car off and restarted and same thing. Turned it off again and restarted and all was well.
Any thoughts on this?

Might try reseting the TCU?
1. Turn on the key to the "on" position.
2. Press the accelerator to the floor and hold for 5 seconds
3. Turn the key to the off position but don't remove the key. Then release the accelerator.
4. Wait for a couple of minutes then try starting it.
Hopefully this helps

Try turning the steering wheel to one side or the other. My dad used to have a fan and similar thing happened. If he turned the key to "On" when the steering wheel wasn't locked to the far side you couldn't shift out of park.
Trick ended up being: Put the key to "Accessory", shift to nuetral, turn key to start vehicle. Or just turn the wheel all the way to left or right. Hope you've got it working and it's not a recurring issue.
