Insurance For C63 Drivers Aged (18-21)

Hey guys Im looking into buying a c63 in the upcoming few months. Im turning 19 next month so I wanna see what the average insurance rate is like for this age group. This is the first car I'm looking to buy within the US.

Im a foreign/international driver who moved over 5 months ago to study. I'm currently studying in the Michigan area.

Im looking forward to receiving the feedbacks. Thanks :y

Sounds like a good deal. By the way congrats on your new "Beast"...:)

jmueller 04-01-2014 06:42 AM

26yrs old (a little older than you're looking for)
Geico
Fort Lauderdale, FL
100/300k limits, 200k UM coverage
No accidents ever, no tickets in past 5 years
Total: $820 per 6 months.

dchl21 04-01-2014 09:16 AM

it always worries me when a 18 yr old gets his hand on a c63

Kriston 04-01-2014 09:28 AM

I concur, Its kinda scary considering the C63 is a lot of car for a driver with fairly little driving experience. Especially if they are driving it in bad weather!

wow, those insurance rates are better than I thought they'd be; only slightly less than mine, and I'm almost twice that age!

I was thinking of the same thing but then I realized that I had my first Benz
when I just turned 17.

Back then we could get our written license when I was 16 and then wait 8

months to get driver license and that's what I did.

So it all depends when someone started driving.

The videos I see on youtube- suggests that someone in India, Russia or China can drive better than some of the very experienced drivers here lol :zoom:

Why? I had my CL63 when I was 19. And it was my first fast car ever.. Although it's true that, quite a few times, I almost crashed being reckless trying to beat physic laws. But thanks to my driving skills I'm still here :D

Ok I already left if you're looking for me :tyson:

SaphGreyC63 04-01-2014 12:11 PM

C63
Age 25
No tickets or accidents
Los Angeles, CA
100/300
$1220/year ($876 after you factor in my new multi policy discount for buying a house)

MBHC 04-01-2014 12:18 PM

I wouldn't say its the age that matters I think it comes down to how much driving experience and how much time behind the wheel they have. I'm 20 and have already log over 4,000 hours of driving time and have done more driving then some people Ik that are in there mid 20s to 30s.

What he said

Kriston 04-01-2014 01:01 PM

You are right, but remember you represent a very small demographic. The majority of new drivers may not be as comfortable behind the wheel of a car like the C63 as you.

I hate you all. Insurance is expensive here in Germany. You have to have 1 million Euro as minimum liability coverage for property. I reckon it is in case you hit a church from the 1500's. Looking forward to being back in the states. The insurance on my MY14 was 80% more than the quote on a MY13.

Did anyone else see a big jump from the model years?

mikeyyyallday 04-01-2014 01:11 PM

i have like 6 speeding tickets..im 20 now. I'm insured through geico…$3.4k for 6 months lmao…2011 c63 w/ p31

edwardsflight33 04-01-2014 01:17 PM

I like mikey

mikeyyyallday 04-01-2014 01:37 PM

how long does it take before your insurance starts going down…? i like driving fast…but cops are every damn where in hawaii!!! this island is too small lol

dcho 04-01-2014 01:49 PM

it'll be less than a wrx or evo!

jmueller 04-01-2014 01:58 PM

Ironically, my insurance went down 50$ (per six months) when I switched from my 2010 G37 Coupe to the C63 Coupe. I guess this is a safer car? Insurance companies underrate them? Food for thought.

rediesel 04-01-2014 02:05 PM

Mikey, wow those are some insane rates. Wonder if Hawaii is expensive all around regardless of driving record? Perhaps being over 21 will move you into a different demographic. I'd suggest you to get married, but that's an expensive way to save a few bucks on auto insurance.

If I were an insurance co underwriting an under 21 in a C63 I'd want a fortune.

After driving v8's and a v12 back home i don't think so i would be able to settle in for something less.

+1 This is the same as in my home country. You could easily start learning to drive by the age of 12 just because it aint that developed yet.

Same as dcho mentioned with respect to the WRX or EVO being more expensive to insure. The car's rate has to do not only with cost and performance but also with the demographics who own them (make claims on them). Because WRX and EVO, and G37/350Z are owned by younger more spirited drivers there are more frequently claims against those models, so they become more expensive to insure. Not due to any performance, cost, or safety issue, but due to the habits of the car's owner base. Car's owned by older less spirited drivers (with fewer claims) become relatevely less expensive.

edwardsflight33 04-01-2014 02:58 PM

You can get quotes from insurance companies. See what is out there for sale and have them quote the VIN. Compare the different model years too. Like I said the MY14 was 80% more for me than a MY13. You might still be able to pick up a new '13 off a lot at a steal compared to the '14, even though there isn't anything different on the base model.

CarHopper 04-01-2014 04:56 PM

Age - 24
No tickets or accidents
Full coverage under recreation vehicle (low miles/year)
Both my RS4 and C63 run me ~$100/mo with a $500 deductable with collision/comprehensive.

Go to a broker and get several quotes, it's the only way to know

You are a unique situation
Not a citizen and on a student visa I assume

Yes thats right. But the student visa, not being a citizen of the US isn't that much of a problem on obtaining the insurance.

Just maybe it could be a factor in which the premium may be higher but, then again I don't know i'll head over this week and see at a broker. I just want to know what people in around my age category are paying for it before hand.

Guilty 04-01-2014 08:07 PM

I had an F1 visa when I was your age with a fairly new american license (less than 6 months) and I was paying about $500 a month with state farm

Was this with the same car or something different?

Ouch
6k per year

Resident status is a factor
As is employment, student, credit , US driving record

Such a wide range
Mine is 850 per year
Full coverage, 2 cars, both include business use

insurance For C63 Drivers(Afeged 18 to 21)

The exhuberance and energy of youth.
A few days ago, I took the car in to have realigned.
I was cruising with the traffic, when a C300 and a VW passed me like bats out of hell, in and out of the traffic at well over a hundred mph.
When I got to the dealer this nice young guy cam in and said it was he and his brother, racing. Said I should have raced them and so on.
Uunnnh.
Kids need to work, on a farm, or something from the time they get into high school til they go out on their own.
Why, to give them a little sense, of responsibility and so on.
A level head if you will.

avery.whss 04-01-2014 08:50 PM

im 24 (bought my c63 when i was 23) and my insurance is $244 i think a month in BC Canada ...just don't become a ego manic and think you need to flex the cars muscles just to gain validation..thats 100% why people drive like morons..they want attention, if you want to have fun..take the car out @ 3am and wake up the city because no one will be on the road..plus it's funny when you see a few house lights come on

Every young person since the dawn of time has fancied themselves smarter than others
Invincible
Immortal
With insight and understanding unparalled
They see things clearly

We were all like that
Then we learn as we grow
The ego and libido run amok
Just the way it is
The military is a good dose of reality
