2014 - Most expensive cars to insure
I just saw that the C63 made it onto the list of top 20 most expensive cars to insure for 2014. #17 to be exact. How accurate is the insurance rating? I for one can say that I don't pay anything near that amount.

It's a good reflection and probably accurate. Hmm...two M156 and two M157 on there. What is strange is for cars like CL63 or CLS63 to not be on the list whereas CL550 and CLS550 are. But at the same time, insurance companies determine insurance rates based on historical data they have compiled. That means 550's are more prone to be in accidents with more costly damage than their respective 63's.
That goes to show you it's paramount to get quotes before pulling the trigger on a car. I did, and that's how I end up with an E class.

Wow! I just purchased a 2013 C63 AMG sedan with the P31 package, LSD and a bunch of other stuff and when I called my AAA agent to take off my 2012 IS F and add the AMG it increased the cost by a whopping $33.00! But then again, I'm 57 with a clean driving record and I only put about 6K on the F per year and will do the same on the AMG so maybe that is why (my commute to work is about 15 miles one way and duty is shared with my 2002 Tundra).

2006 BMW 330i, 2009 C63
Edit:I pay $830 with wawanesa on a 2013 C63 P31.
I have $250 deductible and full coverage, including an extra feature (until 2016), in case the car is totalled, where the insurance pays me the full price of the car as it was in 2014

You may want to shop around next time you're up for a new round of insurance. I'm 27, with a clean driving record, with 100/300 coverage and 200k in UM and I pay $1,650 per year. Additionally, I'm in South Florida which is notoriously expensive for insurance due to the massive amount of insurance fraud that occurs here. Florida actually (according to that same website) is the 7th most expensive state to get car insurance in. As I said before on this site, I pay less for my C63 than what I paid per year for my G37 Coupe.

When I went from a C350 to a C63, the insurance company must have switched me to a different tier. My insurance rate went from $1200 to $650 for every 6 months. I was absolutely mind boggled at the rate reduction, but I sure as hell wasn't going to question them.

2013 C63 coupe P31
Insurances are not that bad for the C63 here in Montreal... I pay 1700$, which is just a tad more than what I paid for my 135i. If I remember correctly the C63 sedan was cheaper to insure than my 135i!
I think insurances don't like coupes

C63s now in the garage. Sold-GLA45 AMG Edition 1, Sold-2010 Mercedes C63
Here in Vancouver BC it's a government owned mandated insurance monopoly. I have the highest discount you can get, over 50% and I pay $2500 a year for my 2010 C63 with a spotless driving record.

Note this list is for MY2014 cars. When I got a quote before buying my car it was on the MY13 for $2800/year. I pay $5000/year on the MY14. If your not/weren't interested in getting a 507 get a MY13 and look at it as another $2k off the sticker price for every year you plan on owning it!
Edit - as for chemical7, not sure how you lucked out, maybe the insurance company reviewed your file and found some more savings for you; age, record, multi-car, long term customer, etc.

I just checked my bill (one of those things I don't like to look at)... I pay 1336 with 300 deductible for my MY14 507. Massachusetts is really strict on insurance. First they start you off in the highest category while they look back at 5 years worth of driving history. And depending on how that looks they drop your rate.

My insurance co hit me at $2300 a year for JUST the C, and that was with two other cars and my house on the policy. No driving issues at all.
I ended up having to change companies to drop it down to about $900.

Insurance is funny because I was 26 when I bought my first C63 and the insurance was actually cheaper than what I was paying on my G35 coupe...then out of curiousity, I went and got a quote from another carrier and they offered me the same exact policy for 50% less than what I paid on my G35.
Just goes to show you that you have to shop around for insurance as you would anything else. One important thing to note is that the C63 coupe does cost more to insure than the sedan. I'm paying about $200 more per year to insure my coupe than I did for my sedan.
