Need advice: Going from 18's to 19's (and selling P30 suspension)
Hi Guys,
Hoping I could get some advice:
I'm about to buy some wheels from a friend. I'm take his Forgestar wheels (19's), stock shocks and H&R springs from his 2012 C63 and swapping them over to my 2009 C63 P30. A couple questions:
1) What are my stock P30 springs and shocks worth? (they have about 60k miles on them).
2) What are my stock 18 AMG wheels worth? (all 4 have slight curb rash)
3) Any ideas on how this will effect my overall ride feel and handling as I go from the 18's with the stiffer P30 shocks to stock 2012 shocks with shorter springs and 19's?
Thanks for your input!

the 2012 shocks + h&r will feel softer.. (our p30 is harsh)
pls don't sell the p30 cheap... they are slightly lower than regular c63 and handles like a race car.
18s and 19s feels about the same ... I think overall you will be happy. I would personaly put the h&r on p30 shocks tho.
as for your wheels probally not much since they are curbed and the least desired oem c63 wheels.(I still like them tho)

If your goal is to soften up the ride, and you are also thinking about rims, then don't do this.
If your goal is to change rims and you know your ride is going to firm up, and are thinking of changing the suspension as a way to counter act that, well then you're on track.

As others have pointed out, 18" to 19" wheels (with properly inflated tires) will make the ride harsher.
While the P30 suspension is stiffer than the non-P30, the H&R (lowering) springs will more than likely make up for the difference in the softer-valved shocks, so I very much doubt that you'd get an improvement in ride quality in this regard as well.
Strictly from a handling perspective, shock valving and spring rates need to be properly matched, which is why I am not in favour of changing one without the other (lowering springs on OEM shocks). The P30 suspension, while stiff, is designed for optimum handling and performs very well. You're going to bugger that up by going with a softer shock and a stiffer spring. If you want an extra drop and still get the best handling, I'd put the H&R springs on the P30 shocks which would be more closely matched.
Either way you look at it, your ride quality is going to suffer, and if you replace your P30 springs with the non-P30s and H&Rs, so will your handling.
