Is this applicable to the 507? This is in response to the C63 going into limp mode?

As it says in the notes, all models except Black Series.

Yes, this is in response to the cars overheating.

I have not seen anything, but I suspect this is just the Black Series kit adapted for the regular C63 bumper.

I take it this deals with transmission cooling?

If so, why does the transmission overheat? Normally the heat in a transmission is cause by the torque converter from the differential speed between the impeller and turbine when the clutch is not locked. Once the clutch is locked very little heat is generated.

Given that this transmission does not have a torque converter where is all the heat coming from to cause such a problem?

Pricing is the main concern now.

Actually it has nothing to do with the transmission. This is an oil cooing pkg.

Very interesting. Hopefully the pricing is reasonable.

Excellent.

On my car driving normally the engine oil temp is right where it should be close to 200*F. Does it get really hot if you are hammering on the car at a track session??

So, what is the word on the transmission. I have seen several references that the transmission is prone to overheating.

This is MB we are talking about.. "reasonable" does not appear in any of their dictionaries or vocabularies :P

Anal Rape on the other hand appears next to all pricing descriptions :)

Bend over and say thank you!

goatfarmer1970 04-17-2014 07:43 PM

Please update this thread as more info is available. I love reducing heat...feels like money very well spent. Thanks.

roadtalontsi 04-17-2014 08:43 PM

interesting. install time of 8hrs your looking at atleast 1000$ and thats without parts.

chrisridebike8 04-17-2014 09:45 PM

Yeah, not spending $1000 on labor. I'll take the parts and do it myself or have my indy shop do it for less. It can't be that hard. They figured 3 hrs to change the grille on my bumper so 8 hrs is probably more like 2-3 hrs. It's oil coolers and plastic body panels, not pulling a motor and trans out.

Jason Anthony 04-18-2014 10:05 AM

I'll definitely get this. Anybody know when it's going to be available?

The part numbers are not "live" yet, so I am just waiting.

Chemical7 04-18-2014 10:48 AM

I will definitely purchase this package to preserve "Das V8 supermotoradd"!

Then I am affraid cars will still be going into limp mode, the limp mode issues I have seen on track have been related to trans temps after codes were pulled and read.

Kriston 04-18-2014 12:17 PM

I have a strong feeling after seeing the price of this kit, we will need this.

roadtalontsi 04-18-2014 10:47 PM

lol, try pricing out some of the black series coolers. Even at cost your looking at like 5k$ in parts only for the rear diff cooler setup lol, and thats lines, pump and cooler

Jason Anthony 04-24-2014 09:24 AM

Any news on this?

Latest from AMG Private Lounge (today):
Dear AMG Private Lounge members,

Results of the further development from amongst others, the „F1 AMG Medical Cars”, have led to the development of an enhanced cooling system for the C 63 AMG.

In order to allow an even better cooling, high-performance coolers are applied in combination with an optimized air path which allows a reduction of the engine oil temperature while driving. Therefore, these measures can also serve the purpose of an optimized cooling of the engine while operating in the outer limit.

If you are interested and you want have further details (assembly, ordering, availability and price), please contact directly an AMG Performance Center in your area. Then, the local colleagues will contact our AMG After Sales Team in Affalterbach.

Best regards from Affalterbach,
Your AMG Private Lounge Team

But in response to a question last night on the AMG Chat Session, MB answered:

There is a modification available in Europe. MBUSA Engineering Services here in the US is looking at it. Stay tuned.
Stay tuned.

So I guess the real answer is not yet.
