Mercedes of manhattan top notch service!
I had my car in for service work because the aligment they did had my car pulling to the right. And when the steering wheel was straight on a flat road, it would pull to the left. I also told him to take a look at a CEL light. So they redid the aligment and tire balance again. I was on the phone with my service advisor who is an AMG specialist and he told me they found a problem with my O2 sensors. He said that my o2 sensor might not actually be burned out but theowing the code because i removed the secondary cats and resonator. Even though the code is for bank 1 sensor, he said the sensors aren't heating up enough to work properly since there isn't enough back pressure. So he told me they sent some of the data to the engineers and informed me not only will they not replace it under warranty but they suggest I change the whole exhaust and quoted me at $7,800. This dealership is insane! Anyone else deal with Mercedes of Manhattan???

Well if nothing else, they may have answered a few questions on this forum. A few members have the same code and are being told they (service dudes) can not figure out the issue. Maybe back pressure is the issue and since the o2 sensors aren't heating up, they're throwing a code but not because they're bad.... Hmmm interesting.
Thanks for the post.

You modified the emission system in violation of state and federal law
This is most likely causing the problem (their explanation sounds plausible)
Replacing the exh, ie, putting it back to stock, will fix it
They quoted you the cost
What do you expect them to do?
Why would they fix it for free when the mods you did caused the problem?
Am I missing something?

I hear you, man. these cars do tend to have some annoying recurring issues popping up here and there. do you still have your stock exhaust? maybe swap it back and then have the dealership do their warranty magic on it, then switch back to your aftermarket setup. at least then you may get your issue solved in stock form and you can chalk the problem up to the mod if the cel comes back.

Interesting information. But why some have the CEL and others don't? IMO having removed the 2nd cat is not necessarily the trigger.

someone has to have a stock exhaust laying around that you can "rent". maybe bolt the stock exhaust back on, get repair under warranty, and hope for the best?
best case scenario, you're only out $50-100 to swap exhausts
worst case, you find out MB was right

I still have my cats and my resonator with me. I'm sure it is the back pressure but he said they're most likely not burned out just throwing a code since they're not heating up to function. I suppose I can just change that particular sensor and see what happens. I'm sure the sensors will keep throwing codes because i looked at my service records, I have had 5 sensors replaced within 2 years. So to me into not worth swapping exhausts everytime it happens!

I purchased my CPO 2014 C63 Coupe a couple of months ago from MB Manhattan. So far, so good. They are a manufacturer owned dealer with A+ BBB rating...they arent going to mess with the brand name over petty stuff. I have a paint issue they are going to rectify. They have the most beautiful loaners I have ever gotten. I treat them like my own lol. Im still in the honeymoon phase, hope it lasts forever!
