Ok.. Over Revved for Breakin
My son drove me to the store as I had a couple of beers and I do not drive even after one. On the way back he "accidentally touched the stick shift" and caused it to rev at least to 6k before it shifted into the next gear (in C mode). The car only has about 500+ miles on it. Does anyone thing this may hurt anything during the break in? Dumb *** kids.

Nope, you'll be fine. The car isn't as fragile as you might believe. There are 2 schools of thought regarding break-in. Baby it or beat on it. You can do whatever floats your boat.

your car will be fine

The car should be fine. The break in is really more for the clutches in the transmission to break in. And from what you described, it doesn't sound like he was beating on the car.

The whole break in thing is a myth. If anything, I can make a stronger case for heat/pressure cycling components to their limits right away. Every race engine that I built, I broke in by beating the crap out of the car for the first 5 miles. Just remember to change the fluids because all the crap comes out in the first few miles. Luckily AMG does that for you.
Moral of the story...wouldn't worry about a thing. If anything fails now, it would have failed anyway. Go out and enjoy your car...

From my understanding the break in period is most important if you have an LSD. I guess there are metal filings that naturally come off during the break in period and MB doesn't want you to push it hard to keep the filings from getting pumped around more. When I had the 1800 mi service they only changed the oil in the LSD and didn't bother with the engine oil.
The risk for damage is very, very low. You might have taken 100 miles off the engine life. It may only be good for 249,900 now though

It aint no thing but a chicken wing, my brotha.
It seems to me like the harder you drive this car (within reason of course) the happier it is and the fewer problems you have. Those guys who are regularly driving hard think its a swiss watch, those that treat it like a swiss watch have nothing but trouble. Of course that whole swiss watch analogy is crap now that every company that makes Swiss movements is owned by freaking Swatch, but you get my point. I hope.
Drive it like someone else paid for it.

You sure about that? Cos thats a hella job, and I want it!!!
THAT is work I would do for minimum wage.
I think that as a result of more modern manufacturing and tighter tolerances and better materials they just dont need it anymore. But if I am wrong, and some dude got paid to break my car in and then they delivered it with an odometer that says 28km when it should say 2800, well, H.E.L.L. will be paid.
Imo snuff that fool, then Im applying for the job vacancy.

Hi there,
As others have said on here, you ought to be fine with the 6K rev during the break-in. After talking with the head shop foreman at my dealer, he advised me to break the car in as I will drive it in real life (search my username for a thread along the lines of Conversation with Shop Foreman).
Enjoy my friend.

HOWEVER, this should not prevent you for milking this for all it is worth and telling your son that he ruined your car and be ready for the barrage of punishments you will inflict on him
