:/ Do they build the engine in USA as well?

xxGenericSNxx 04-29-2014 01:10 AM

All engines are made in Germany.

There is a w205 forum, why do people keep posting w205 topics in here??

probably for the same reason why people keep using the word "fitment", and asking the same questions about brake pads, tire sizes and spacers. lol. but hey, it's an open forum so whatev.

Yes Alabama. Another reason I bought a W204.

And isn't there a rumor that the engine will be built by Nissan? So... engine by Nissan and assembled in Alabama. AMG?

The CLA45's M133 engines are not built in Affalterbach - I think they are built outside Germany too (Czech/Hungary).

AMEN! You are preaching to the choir. The MBworld community would benefit by increasing the "knowledge base" in the W205 AMG forum.

OP - Just be happy you don't live in geographic region that will get the "made in China" or "made in india" version.

Yes, there was a thread on the Private Lounge that the 205 C63 will be built in Alabama. Only the engines will be built in Germany and shipped over. Not heard about them being built by Nissan. The CLA production however is to be moved in the future to be built by Nissan at their new plant in Mexico. Currenty they're built in Hungary. Nissan will also build their own car from the CLA platform. Kinda hard to call these German cars when they're built in Hungary, the US, let alone Mexico.

Your 2015 AMG engine signature plate will say "Cletus Spuckler" on it :rolf:

Ahmed 04-29-2014 12:11 PM

Awesome

When AMG said the new C63 TT 4.0 liter V8 is two CLA45 2.0 liter turbocharged fours mated together, I wasn't thinking Cletus doing the welding. But it's beginning to make sense.

edwardsflight33 04-29-2014 12:20 PM

Cletus only touches V8's. Anything else is un-uh-Merican.

The M133 is made in Germany. It's hand assembled in the Kölleda plant by AMG engine builders and is still one man one engine.

wow wow wow! Where did this info come from?

jvanbrecht 04-29-2014 01:04 PM

Not sure of any details. We know there is a partnership with Nissan, and AMG may provide engines for some unknown future model. It also stands to reason that Nissan brings alot of knowledge to the table when it comes to engine building, well the GT-R engine anyways...

Combine AMG and GT-R.. and who knows what we will get.. maybe the engine for the TARDIS :)

VividRacing 04-29-2014 01:34 PM

Pretty excited about that partnership then!

abcut973 04-29-2014 01:59 PM

Yeah the W205 will be built in Tusculoosa AL! I drove past this factory many times when i was living in Birmingham.
As for the partnership with Nissan it will be profitable most likely for Nissan. They build good engines but lack the quality/luxury/touch MB has :y

I disagree.. AMG and GT-R engines aside, Nissans run of the mill engines in their entire fleet are just as good, if not better (I would take a VQ engine in the infiniti's over anything in the non AMG C class range) than the MB engines.

The non AMG engines have not exactly been considered good engines, in fact I would hazard a guess that the MB V6 engines are utter crap, at least from any performance standpoint. the Nissan VQ series in the FX35 prior to 2009 sounded absolutely beastly (being tuned by Yamaha helped)

edwardsflight33 04-29-2014 02:43 PM

MB's best non-AMG engines are thier diesel engines. If buying MB I would only go AMG or Bluetec.

VividRacing 04-29-2014 02:43 PM

The VQ motors are amazing, I agree!

Can't argue with the truth.

Sincity 04-29-2014 03:21 PM

Ditto on the VQ.
