About to buy a C63
Hello y'all, i'm about the pull the trigger on a c63, coming from an e46 m3 zcp supercharged SMG, it was time to me to change for something a bit different and the e92 doesn't appeal me...
I really appreciated de competition package on my M3 and I was wondering if the P31 worth the extra money. I have spotted a P31 and a regular one, the difference in pricing is something around 7k, both have the same options except the PP and no one has an LSD... I also spotted a P30 with more mileage, but LSD.
By any chance anyone can give me their impressions/comparaisons in both transmissions?

I'd keep looking. You want the LSD and you want a face-lift (2012) model for the tranny and other stuff. That way you also avoid the weak early head bolts that can ruin your day.
The P31 is nice if you're not a major modder. The better and lighter brakes are worth the price of admission in my opinion, but brakes can be upgraded. The engine is definitely a little stronger, but again if you're going to tune it that's not that big a deal. Same with the increased max speed. 155 is so boring but a tune can fix that.

2010 c63 (p31) w/LSD
As someone who just purchased a c63 I would say my answer is it depends on your budget. Personally after looking at the differences in features between the model years I wanted a 2010 or higher. Also because I bought a 2010 I was still able to add the MB warranty (though I had to jump through hoops to be able to buy it, long story).
The 2012+ has a better transmission but still no where near as good as the BMW transmissions. But I stayed at 2010 because the price increase between a 2010 and a 2012 was more than I felt it was worth for the better transmission and I personally like the look of the prefacelift c63 better than the facelift c63.
As for the p31 or not I got a great deal on a p31 so it was worth it, if you can find a good price on a p31 it is worth the cost. And I would do the LSD for sure. that's my .02

LSD but not engine mods was part of P30. Engine mods but not LSD was part of P31 (and 507). Think both of those are true for Canada as well as US.

In Canada that was true for 2010 and the LSD was an optional extra ($2400) on top of or separate from the P31. I believe from 2011 on the LSD was included in the P31 (APX) package in Canada.

Question for Exhibit13 and anyone else:
I recently bought a 2011 C-63, with 15,000 miles, in CA, still has manufacturers warranty until November of 2014.
I spoke to the local dealership, and they stated that I could not get the Mercedes-Benz extended warranty. Do you mind telling me how were able to obtain the extended warranty? Thank you very much.
You can either send me pm, or post this as a thread for the benefit of other forum members if you don't mind sharing the info

MB Extended Warranty
From what I was told you have to be the original owner to get the MB extended warranty. You have to go for a pre warranty expiration inspection at your cost to see if you qualify for the warranty. You can purchase 3rd party extended warranty if you are not the original owner. I priced it out and the 3rd party have way more options and better pricing.
So I think the key to getting the EW is buying CPO from a MB dealer. I know they have a CPO special on now. However, with the CPO special on AMGs you don't get the two years of prepaid maintenance. My dealer messed up and promised it to me. They later tried to recind, but I made them stick to the offier in writing.

As long as the original warranty has not expired you are eligible to purchase an extended warranty. July of last year I purchased a used 2010 C63 from a local used car dealer. The original warranty expired in September of 2010. About two weeks prior to the expiration of the original warranty I purchased a 3 year 75K miles extended warranty from an out of state Benz dealer. You must shop around as prices are all over the place. My local Benz dealer wanted $5K but I got one for $2.5K. Hope it helps

ELW pricing and eligibility are all over the map. i would just call around to various dealerships until you find one that will sell you one. seems like the minimum requirement is that the original factory warranty is still in play.
(btw, i was still under original warranty and got an ELW as a second owner, no inspection).

On second thought, it's kind of fun. My wife just sits there looking at her shoes but guys eat this stuff up.

lol. strange, when i bought a previous AMG, the dealership actually took the negotiated price reduction out of the warranty price, not the car price. these guys do whatever they want, which, as you say, has it's advantages.

i personally prefer the older torque converter transmission over the mct. The mct is jerky in parking lots and not always consistent with throttle inputs at take offs in comparison to the torque converter. Ya it shifts a little snappier but eventually the clutch packs will wear out. not to mention the launch control in it is useless. I'd personally shoot for a 2011. I like the older interior better with the flip out screen. It's all personal preference though, c63's hold up really well as long as no dumbasses have been attempting to maintain them
