Dreaded ticking noise! Help...

What can I say- ups and downs!
This am got the 'loud ticking noise' heard best from the top of the engine closest to the back of the engine bay, also thought I heard a groaning noise( could be normal?). Normal driving last night, accelerated hard once( warm engine).
the noise increased with pressing the accelerator, and did not go away even after driving around some. Now left it with the dealer. Waiting with anxiety.

2011 MY, only 15000 miles, bought about 2 mos ago, was perfect until now..
had checked with valvestud regarding head bolt issues, and he kindly let me know that my car was ok( manufactured after the issue was addressed).
Ironically, yesterday, had just sent in money for a group buy for a eurocharged tune/handheld, right now completely stock.

Any suggestions please; i have tried to read through some of the posts on this issue, in this informative forum.

headbolt problems don't cause ticking noises. seems like you still have warranty, so no problem; wait for the dealer to diagnose it.

Normal from what I've read. I park on a hill. Every once in a while I get the tick. I was told, dry lifters and it comes and goes. I'm ok with that. I've also read that 5w 40 oil is a better way to go to mitigate this common issue.

I'd be apprehensive to allow a dealer to perform surgery on my car, replacing parts in a goose chase to stop the problem.

I'm old school when it comes to engines. These things were built by dedicated purists and i like to avoid allowing any mechanic, certified or not, to perform brain surgery in an attempt to "make it better".

My C63 would get if from sitting too long. As long as it goes away after a little while you have nothing to worry about. My work truck does it every once in a while (chevy) and the truck before that. Even my buddies Ford Raptor does it perodically. The lifter just has to get pumped up with oil. Just make sure to drive the car practical till its at operating temperature. Also the C63s have their whining sound which sounds like an old school gear drive and also can have another whine which mine had from time to time that sounded like the PS pump.

Thank you folks, hopefully this is a transient issue, will keep your suggestions in mind.
I did send eurocharged a request for refund, until I know more, can not and makes no sense in modding an engine that may have an issue. I just posted a copy of my message to them.

"Unfortunately, this am the engine has suddenly developed a loud ticking noise, just took it to the dealer to have this assessed. I am concerned that this may be a valve lifter issue, or worse. The car is just 15000 miles old. Given this current uncertainty, I would like to wait on the ECU retune. Can I rescind the order and request the amount back- i sent it via paypal. This is not buyers remorse and is a genuine problem that I am having to deal with, and should be a very reasonable request as the processing of the order has not been done. If the car runs fine for a while after repair, then I will look into the ecu retune again. Thank you very much."

Follow up on rescinding the tune

I wanted you all to know about excellent response I got from eurocharged after my engine tick issue as posted above. Here is my resonse to an email from Phillip @ eurocharged.

"Thank you Philip for getting back promptly, and for agreeing to rescind my order/returning my amount- great customer service.

As discussed over the phone, I would like 1 week to see how the engine works, after the dealer completes their check of the engine today, to decide whether i want to go ahead with the tune. I will contact you next week. Again, thank you for all of the above and agreeing to wait for a week or so at the same price or money back.

I will post this on the boards to tell folks about your excellent customer service.
Regards"

I too had the engine "tick" on my MY11 C63. I bought it CPO, so I took it to the dealer three weeks ago. Dealer diagnosed an internal issue, and to make a long story short, MB advised to replace numerous wear parts. Should get her back today.

I first tried the change your oil to 5-40 etc... Tick would not go away. The warranty of the CPO is a great deal..

Did they provide you with a list of replacement parts. I would be curious.

I'm going to guess, buckets and lifters, possibly the camshaft which may have worn down (that is what a previous lawsuit was about, unfortunately it was dismissed.)

? Resolved

I got the car back from the dealer- says 'no problem', could not reproduce ticking noise; I am hoping this was something temporary, as has been described, with the valve lifters sticking. This has been posted earlier by some folks, hopefully not a recurring issue.

I thought I should go ahead with the Eurocharged ECU tune. the entire experience leaves me a little nervous!

Got her back today. The list of parts was three pages all saying "no charge" she runs like a champ and no damn ticking. I can't even imagine what this rebuild would have cost.

For those who had to have parts replaced, did the ticking come and go or just stay ticking?
