This was the Review of the Customer once he collected the car.
First impressions of the Weistec / MSL C63 Monster
Well I drove down to MSL today to pick the car up, I felt sick with excitement and wondering if I had done the right thing, it’s not as if the C63 is any slouch and I was wondering can it really be as good as you see on the You tube clips and reviews on the American forums.
Anyway I arrived at MSL and was greeted by Acid who was grinning (as always) and seemed as excited as me. He took me to see the car and it was actually just being polished (cracking mini detail by Acids Brother).
There was definitely tension in the air when he turned the key and started it…….one thing is for sure the clips on You tube do not do the sound justice, the supercharger whine sounds amazing and the sound from the exhaust is just mental now it really does roar bang and pop (it’s a totally standard exhaust).
A quick blast up Acids private quarter mile stretch (if you have been to MSL you know what I mean) in damp and cold conditions quickly showed that 1st and 2nd gear were a waste of time and the Quaife LSD was working overtime but could not get the power down. However, even in standard form the car was a nightmare in the wet.
So it was time for thanks and farewells and until the next time (I think myself and Acid may have some ideas on what to do with the car next…..but that’s further down the line). I set off for Newcastle and snaked down the private quarter mile with a big stupid grin on my face.
Heading for the motorway via Birmingham centre proved the car was as docile as ever and the only noticeable difference was a slight whine from the supercharger when pulling away….which sounds pretty cool.
Once on the main roads (A42 /M42) the roads dried out and gave me an opportunity to “ get the Hammer down”……………….Holy F**k this thing is quick now I mean seriously quick it just pulls and pulls. The only thing I can compare it too is similar to a take off on a jet plane!!!!
It sits cruising silently at 70-90 without any noise just as it used too, but once you plant your foot it kicks down and takes off, I dare say acceleration in 3rd is just as hard as 2nd. I scared myself a couple of times off “blipping” it to overtake and then glanced at the speedo and thought this is Straight to jail speeds (just for the record I don’t “drive it like I stole it” and still have a clean licence…..for now).
Once the roads had dried out I stopped off at the services and then remembered there was the “S” button!!!!! Pulling onto the slip road off the roundabout it dug in and just took off Supercharger screaming and exhaust throwing out gallons of fuel and making a noise like thunder………I am struggling to think of the words but I can only compare the acceleration through the gears similar to a fast bike (I have a 2012 Fireblade). You are shoved back hard in the seat every time it changes up.
All I can say is a massive thanks to Acid and the guys at MSL for doing a truly fantastic job and creating the 1st Supercharged C63 in the UK and I dare say the most powerful one.
I have it booked onto a Dyno on Monday which is the same Dyno that was used prior to the conversion so I will post the graphs once it’s done.

wow im surprised it took that long to get one in the u.k. Yea it's hard to imagine how much the s/c really does until you experience. It's alot of $$$ but it really is a good 30-40% gain in power.

There are currently 3 supercharged m156 cars in the uk
An S class an E class and mine......ironically all within probably 15 miles
After doing plenty of researching on this forum I decided to jump for stage 2, I am just hoping the LTH are not too loud ......I have the IPE valved exhaust so I am hoping this will help.

as long as you have high flow cats, it'll help keep it quiet. I have the akropovic exhaust and it's real quiet inside the car - like stock unless you get on it.

Nice write up. You will be very happy with the system, in addition to being well mannered and docile at low revs in traffic and a monster when you step hard on the pedal it is a very dependable system. It's nice to see and hear about other people singing the praises of the system. I have purchased four superchargers from Weistec for a reason. Enjoy it!

Tomorrow the car is back for a stage 2.
We will be fitting the IPE long tube headers as it already has the rear IPE control boxes.
Will be doing a Dyno run before and after stage 1 to Stage 2 on a Dynojet.
Cheers

As most will be aware I took the plunge and upgraded from the Stage 1 Weistec Supercharger to Stage 2.
The difference between stage 1 and stage 2 consists of the following:
A smaller pulley (now runs with 8Psi instead of 6Psi)
It requires Long tube headers ( 4 branch manifold) so I now have the full IPE valvetronic sytem
And a re-flash of the ECU.
All the work was carried out by MSL (I wouldn’t trust the car with anyone else these days.
OK so for the headline figures
Stage 1 525 WHP and 440.87 Torque which equates to 620 BHP and 520 lb/ft torque
Stage 2 605.28 WHP and 527.68 Torque which equates to 714 BHP and 622 lb/ft torque
So how does it go……Its insane it really does just pull and pull like a train. I am shocked by how much harder it pulls from Stage 1 to Stage 2. (tested on the MSL ¼ mile drag strip)
So it came for times for goodbye and the 174 mile trip back to Newcastle (I will be back down to MSL soon for our next cunning plan to take shape…….)
Anyway set off and got stuck in rush hour traffic so the car just behaved as it did when it was stock, with the valves closed its probably slightly louder than a stock C63. However open the valves in the exhaust it is much louder with a really deep V8 grumble.
Once I finally got out of the traffic and onto the motorway I noticed at 70-75mph with the valves on the exhaust closed there was a bit of a drone, but only at these speeds so below or slightly above no issues. When you floor it just digs in and accelerates in 3rd as a standard car accelerates in 1st it really does take your breath away. And the noise of the charger screaming and the exhaust note are intoxicating.
With the valves open in the exhaust it’s a whole different story it sounds absolutely mental the engine roar is crazy and the roar from the exhaust is insane…….possibly even a bit much I dare say 50% of people would say it sounds awesome 50% would say its too much……being honest I am still sat on the fence weather I like the sound with the valves open. (I love it with the valves closed)
The rate at how it accelerates at any speed is breath taking and really does push you hard into the seat and you have to stay alert to how quickly the speedo is climbing.
I have a racelogic so I will try and get some figures for acceleration….pointless trying to get 0-60 as my skills feathering the throttle are pretty useless. However real world figures of 50-70 etc I will try and get.
Anyway, I am sure some people will think I am mad and hoping that it will go bang so they can say “ I told you so” However, there will also be a few who will be thinking when should I do it to mine…..the answer is as soon as you can.
All I can say is thanks to Acid and the Team at MSL as they have pulled off another magic act, and that’s another car now in the MSL 700+BHP club (Jims E-class currently running 725Bhp)

Transmission upgrade is next on the cards. Just awkward at the moment for us in the UK as we need to send the TCU to weistec, so adds to the down time and costs.
