LSD install questions

Hi all
I live in Fresno,CA. After recent V5 Eurocharged tune, and ROW airboxes, I am thinking of upgrading to a Quaife/Wavetrac lsd.
I welcome suggestions/comments re:

1. Where to get this installed( apparently can require some modification, esp with Wavetrac) given where I live(central california-- ? bay area).

2. Between the 2, I am still confused after reading several threads on the topic.

Thanks in advance.

I think it is a rather time consuming install, I am about to order a Wavetrac here in a few weeks and will do a photo build of the installation process. I think Vivid Racing is out near there?

I did my Quaife install about a year ago. I got the so call V2 Quaife. PM me if you are willing to drive out to the bayarea.

Any tranny/diff/gearbox shop could do it
Most only work on the part delivered to them, in this case the diff
You can give them tips from the forum ( sesrch)
And talk to wavetrac or another shop who's done it

If out east I would highly recommend ShepTrans
He did mine and after meeting him had 0 reservations

Really no difference
Some say the quaife will lose all drive if a wheel is lifted ( or on glare ice)
The wavetrac is a bit different so it won't
But I would be ok with either

The WaveTrac often requires a small modification to the housing. My workshop had the diff set up by a diff specialist who carefully milled the housing to get the clearance. The effort by the diff specialist made me smile as a few seconds with an angle grinder would have removed the very small offending bit of non structural metal. The possible need to grind a bit of metal off is a non issue for the WaveTrac as long as your installer knows what they are doing.

From memory the workshop time for the pull out and reinstall was around 7 hours. They said it was very time consuming with so much going on under the rear of the C63. From what I have read 7 hours or more is common.

The difference in grip is amazing especially in the wet. Best mod you can do without spending big money and going blown.

Go to the manufacturer sites for the detailed explanation as to how the 2 diffs work and the diference between them. The WaveTrac appealed to me and all I read were positive reviews.

Took my guy maybe 8-9 hours
But he took his time since it was the first time he'd done one
He owns a new e63s and a really hot e55
He bought one for his e55
Now THAT is an endorsement
This guy has a worldwide rep for tranny work on gtr's and evo's
Must have had 20 trannies in process

The grinding is a few mm to round off a non-structural corner
