Went to the Nurburgring on Sunday
Went back and drove Nordschleife again yesterday. Only got 2 laps in due to heavy rain coming in after lunch. I was still happy with my time. Unfortunately, I do not have any fancy devices that show my speed, G's, or position on the track relative to the video.
Update: I've been back a few times and slowly getting quicker. This will probably be the best I'll ever get with this car.
I have a few other videos from going around on my channel.

That was actually my best time so far. That was the 13th lap I've done. Getting more comfortable with feeling when the car goes light. The track had just dried out from the morning rains. That VW wasn't too far behind me at the end and he definitely knew the track. My 2nd lap was over 12 minutes due to the heavy rain and the fact I was just getting the car to fishtail as safely as I could.
Either way, it is always a blast to go to the Nurburgring. Definitely a bucket-list worthy experience for car guys.

A lot of the fastest cars there are little beaters like those. Guys throw roll cages, suspension and race exhaust on em then strip everything else out of them. Bonafied race car for under $10,000 and then go beat the hell out of it. Pretty sure the only reason I got him was cause he had worn out performance tires or slicks and he was cautious.

The bankings are kind of rough. You can hear the GoPro vibrate against the windshield when I go over them a little bit. I go for the fun of it, not to set a record lap time, and don't want to tear the tires up too much. Definitely do not want to damage any part of the car either. Even though it is considered a toll road and my regular insurance would cover me, you can't replace a 507 sedan. A co-worker of mine totaled his M3 there. He has an R8 now, but barely drives it hard there now. Last we went he did an 11:30 lap.
There are a lot of apexes that I could still get much closer to without touching the lines. I'll be the first to admit I've got a lot to learn and improvement to be had. If I can get some friends in the area ADAC (kind of like AAA) does driving schools. I really want to do the one where they teach you to power slide. They have them at the Nurburgring and the Hockenheimring.

I will be going next Saturday, it will be my first time.....any tips or advice?
I have 2 tickets, shall I do two laps or one lap and 15 minutes on the GP circuit?
My car has a front spoiler lip, wil it touch the track?
Thanks!

Your splitter will be fine if you keep it on the track. If you go up on the apron/bumpers you might scrape it. Remember, super low race cars drive here too. You should check nuerburgring.de to verify the GP circuit will be open. I've always wanted to drive it, but I've only seen it open on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Nordschleife also has pretty limited hours on Saturdays for the Touristfahrten (tourist drives). It was open for 90 minutes this past Saturday I think. Since it is a 90 minute drive for me I've only been on Sundays.
By the way fellows. Dome///AMG has a video posted on the video thread when he went 8:27.

If you ever watch the videos there is a guy in a blue one with an orange roll cage. He is pretty much there in every weekend and is fast as hell. When I see him I just get over to the right side. Dude is amazing.

Awesome video! "The Green Hell" is definitely on my bucket list. My only wish is having Sabine Schmitz sitting shotgun though, lol.

This track is very long (173 turns) and very hard to remember. When you are not sure of the next turn slow down. Perhaps you will not do a good BTG but you will be able to go back with your car.
You can go with great precaution for 1 lap then a session on the F1 GP. The F1 is much easier to remember and with 1 session you can enjoy. At the end of the session you have to exit without time do do a slow down lap to decrease the temps (engine and brakes). Think about it.
If you have more tickets, you can do 2 laps (one each time) with a coach giving you advices on the track then try (alone or not) 1 or 2 more laps.

2 laps is not nearly enough. If you can, go for a ride with someone else first so you can get to know the way the turns and elevation changes feel. Also, your splitter may rub on either of the carousels if you come off the line, so pay attention. Could also rub if you go flying off the track like I did my first time, but that's another story...
Have fun and soak it all in - there's nothing even remotely like the Nordschleife.
