After Market LSD option?
G'Day Folks,
I was just thinking about fitting an OEM Limited Slip Differential to my C63, so Googled it up, and located this potential aftermarket option;
https://www.tractionconcepts.com/Mer.../tcxmb5732.htm
I just found this potential replacement diff?
Any personal experience with this, or advice from anybody regarding this option, would be appreciated.
Best regards
Homer

you don't want that fake LSD mod. kleeman uses the same thing. it helps but is not even half as good as a real limited slip differential. wavetrac's and quaife's go for 800-1000. saving a few hundred for a worse part isn't worth it.

Go OEM (cheap used) or use a clutch-type like Drexler if you’re serious about traction. The helicals are junk, none of them provide traction when one wheel is at zero load (i.e. slipping), with the possible exception of WaveTrac.

I’d still pay that for a used OEM clutch-type diff 100/100 times over $1k+ for any helical. Even better if that’s for the whole pumpkin, couldn’t be an easier install vs all the disassembly, trimming and shimming that’s has to be done to fit a helical.

Get the OEM. Keep rebuilding it and you’re future proof

I always liked the torsen style (quaife, peloquin) that my Audis all have.
never had one do a one wheel peel on me.

Have a look at OS Giken diffs. Difflabs sells them. And they're based in Aus. They run about $2kish. Here is the link

OS Giken is on my radar as they need very little rebuilding if any. In the world of racing, the OS Giken LSD has the longest service interval of any clutch type LSD on the market. My friends who race professionally swear by it as less rebuilds require less time and money. Helical LSD's versus Clutch style LSD's perform very differently. Clutch style LSD's are offered in 1 way, 1.5 way, and 2 way engagements. Helical LSD's are not available in such format.

The one I bought did not have the image showing the X. I went by the VIN to look up the option.

Gonna need to ask my parts guy to track the OEM lsd too. I can’t find part numbers anywhere. I almost guarantee it’s a shared LSD between platforms.

supposedly all same generation V8 Mercedes AMG vehicles came with the same LSD unit although in a different housing. the LSD unit may be fitted to the 300C SRT8 as well as they did not come with a factory LSD option from what I recall. the 300C SRT8 shares the same differential as ours and gives us further options in regards to ring and pinion gear ratios.
from what I gather, the W212 bi-turbo 4matic also came with the same LSD unit. those on ebay are selling upwards of 1,250 but much lower miles and with less damage than earlier generations of vehicles.

It's been 2-3yrs since installing OEM MB LSD with upgraded plates/ramps by Florian at LimitedSlip.de and unfortunately can't locate any photos, but the OEM MB LSD is made by Drexler, with casing exactly like this:

There are more photos of the OEM MB LSD on Celicasaur's 3.06 Final Drive Swap Thread:
