Adaptive headlamps

Has anyone else experienced issues with the auto high beams? Last night was my first night driving in my new car and my wife who hates my car was riding with me and the lights were kinda freaking out. Not a good way to try to turn her attitude around lol. My '14 E auto high beams worked flawlessly. Wondering if I should take it in or it is what it is?

Also another question. One thing I didn't like about my e class and perhaps don't like about the c class is at night when I get in the car the bright dome light doesn't come on. I looked for ways to change this but couldn't find anything

What do you mean by 'freaking out'? The adaptive high beam assit function of the headlights can be turned off. pg 111 of the owners manual.

I've never noticed the dome light as you described but I bet it can be set to come on like you want.

Why does your wife dislike the car ? So far my wife love mine.

By freaking out I mean going back and forth between high and low beams when not necessary. Its like it cant tell the difference between street lights and head lights. My E never did this and was absolutely flawless.

My wife doesn't like the car because I went and bought it against her wishes. Traded my '14 E 350 in for it. She was completely against it. She thinks its to small. She'll come around. Looking back it was a pretty irresponsible move that I do regret. I tried to give the car back the next day but they weren't having it. Either way, I love the car, will keep it for many many years. Her big beef was that I should've been content with what I had. She's right. I have 2 young kids, 1 with a pending open heart surgery. She doesn't think the kids will fit in there.(I have other vehicles for them). This was way out of my norm, not sure what came over me! My argument was it wasn't hurting me financially at all. She knows its not going anywhere. I don't buy vehicles often as I have a company issued vehicle for everyday driving. Ive just always wanted a luxury sports car. The E was great and sporty but not compared to the AMG.

I've noticed that the reflection from my headlights coming back from roadsigns have "tricked" my car into sensing an on-coming car. That could've been what was happening to you.

Near the dome light there is a switch that selects if the light comes on when you open the doors.

Yep found it late last night. Thanks. That red/black two tone leather looks good under that dome light!
