Rev limiter raise to 7500 or higher because...

What's up Hagi! Did you have to ask Jeremy to raise it or was it part of the header tune?

Sweet! I'm planning on installing my AR headers soon. I need to get a header matched tune after my installation. Do you think the raised 7300 or 7500 rpm is reliable?

Awesome example of how efficient the engine runs to stay flat till 7500rpm.
Engine life will however DEFINITELY reduce. Can't fight plain physics here. The extra piston speed will add enormous stress to the rods.
How much life reduction? No idea, they are strong. Mine has seen 9300rpm when I picked her up - missing 3rd and going to 1st. OUCH... but has never missed a beat since.
On a weekend warrior it may not be a problem. On a daily driver - I'd flick it on after a year or two at regular 7500rpm pulls (and tell the new owner the rpm limit was raised).
I'm going to see if I can get different shift points between the C mode and S mode, and S+ mode. I'd leave C mode stock; run 7k in S mode, then 7300 in S+. If cut out came in right at 7500 you could run it in manual to 7.5 for drag racing on the paddles.

OE Tuning C63 AMG
We have tuned many cars running 7300-7500rpm limit. Protection RPM limits are not changed for high temp or limp modes (these are the protections features that still remain). RPM raising is a special request and is not included with our regular tuning packages. The M156 & M159 valvetrains are very capable of revving at this higher set rpm with out causing any damage or extra wear to components. MB/AMG test these engines at far higher rpms to ensure that parts are over-engineered to last.

Toxic do you use oe tune?
J: are you the only tuning company who can raise the rev limit with out modifying tcu? I remember many years ago when I was using another tuner, even though we increased rev limit the changes never occurred. At the time, correct me if I am wrong, but we were told the tcu had to modified too, to be able to increase the rev limit.
What other tuning companies increase rev limit?

LOL c'mon man, you OE tuning guys are like android users.
how about post something useful or relevant. Seeing you have an E63 why not start with in M mode when you shift at 7500 where is the needle on your tach?
Thanks in advance

I have a 7500 redline on my oetune and the tech clearly goes in the red zone past the 7k mark
some times I think I have an 8k limit because I swear I seen way past the middle between 7 and 8 k

If you datalog via OBD2 you will you will see that the analogue tach is off and reads higher than actual operating data proves. We change RPM limits for each gear also, so you reach the correct RPM limit in each gear.

Which Toyota? I'm guessing not the 'Rolla in your sig that's sold...?
Mine does 9,000 on the street and 9,500 at the drag strip
Edit, no sorry, I jack off to this one at least once a week:
