plastic T that connects grille to top of radiator needed??

Putting on my new/used FL grille got the grille on fine but when i was putting the air intake shroud back on I used a little too much downward pressure that the plastic T cracked off.

it was a clean break so i'm letting some superglue dry on it now to see how sturdy it is but is this part really needed? from what i can tell it doesn't seem to secure much of anything

If it is needed any idea how expensive this stupid piece of plastic is?
Update: found the part on oediscountparts looks like its 19.50 called "Grille support plate"

I'll bet super glue will be fine, but glad to know it's not too expensive to replace that piece. Or maybe I've been brainwashed by AMG pricing.

20 bucks seems pricey for a tiny piece of plastic
I've read it doesn't hold some aftermarket grills and people take it off

Gives me a reason to order some row boxes too
