Mercedes models Tires C63

I was in the dealership today to check my summer tires and wheels. Getting ready for summer.

The dealership told me if I was to get a set of tires elsewhere, make sure a MO label is on the tires. It means the tires meet Mercedes standard. I did take a look at their system. Two models are listed but same spec.

I don't like the original Continental at all and should be getting a Michelin Pilot Super Sport. From here:
http://www.michelinman.com/tire-sele...t/tire-details
I did find OE Mercedes models tires but not the spec my 507 is required.

Question:
Does it really matter? What exactly does the Mercedes models tire differ from the standard one?

It means they put the MO label on it and send it to Mercedes so they can charge more. Every manufacturer does it.

For my other car, Zimmerman stamps front rotors with the BMW logo and puts them in BMW boxes which the dealer sells for $180. You can buy the exact same Zimmerman rotor for like $80 online without the stamp in a Zimmerman box.

Anyway, Super Sport are a great tire for this car. Don't worry any fancy labels they are all the same tire whether you buy them from the Mercedes dealer or tire rack.

Just do what I did and throw a set of Sumitomo HTR ZIII's on there for $750 and call it 6Kmiles.

Exactly.

Buy the tyre in the right size with the correct loading ratings etc. The MO is simply marketing.

Michelin Pilot Super Sports are the clear favourite on here by a good margin. I run them and my only complaint is that in Austrlaia we get reamed on the price (my last set from Tirerack including shipping cost were still cheaper than buying locally).

I believe so. If the Michelin has one with MO label I would still get it though as long as price are close.

PSS are great tires, but I killed my rears in 5K miles, and that was with NO burnouts, NO track days, just a few 600+ mile roadtrips and moderate driving around the city when I am home on weekends.

Just switched them out under warranty (thanks discount tire) plus a little cash for the DWS in a 275/35/18. So far so good, and they have a much longer life expectancy.

Sorry- don't follow - what tires are you saying have a much longer life than the pilot super sports?

Continental DWS. They are high performance all seasons, will work in light snow if you live in that kind of area, and also have higher treadwear. The super sports are great in warm climates/summer, but terrible below freezing and have lower treadwire as they are summer performance tires.

I like the all season tires as they last weight longer than the summer performance. Do you feel anything lost after switched to the all season?

realjones got it.

As far as anything lost, it's hard to tell so far. It's been cold, rainy, and icy the past few days here in dallas, and so far performance is better compared to the PSS, but that's a given with the circumstances.

When it was dry, they seem to be pretty grippy. The only thing I can tell so far, is that the sidewalls on the DWS are a bit softer, so there is a little bit of a mushy feeling if you make a sudden correction. Then again, didn't really push the PSS hard either because it was colder during the time I had them on.
