AMG drive day Melbourne Grand F1 prix circuit
AMG have the Melbourne F1 Grand prix cirucit at Albert Park booked up for the Wednesday before the F1 race.
Had an absolute blast driving around the closed street circuit this morning in A 45, CLA 45, C63 507, CLS 63 and SL 63. The circuit is public road through parkland with a 50 kph (31 mph) speed limt for 51 weeks of the year.
The A is very impressive under brakes and corning but lacks the puch of the V8s which pull away quickly on the straights - you could easily make an ordinary driver look good in the little 4 cyclinder turbo. Having now driven one I know I do not want to own one as a daily driver - much prefer a BMW 135/235M.
On the Albert Park circuit the C63 was probably the pick of the bunch however at the longer faster flowing Philip Island Moto GP circuit the E/CLS shines.
We were told this morning that the further drive days this year for Australia will be at Mt Panorama Bathurst and Philiip Island Moto GP circuit. Bathurst will be absolutely unbelieveable - runoff is non existent on most of the circuit. If you have never heard of Bathurst watch this:
Any other Aussies make it to Albert Park today?
