C63 underhood lighting...
Ok, so I am still floored at the fact that a $70k vehicle has no underhood lighting....I had already installed an LED strip in the hood liner and it worked great, but it looked a little aftermarket and chincy....so while I was underhood the other day I had one of those moments of clarity(as in the ones where you have a $30 idea that costs you $461 in the end)....well, I've got hundreds of LEDs in stock so that was a wash(maybe $5 worth), 21 1/2" plastic panel retainers($9 for the 2 packs) and a little time modding the retainers I got what I think looks pretty damn factory and does an excellent job.....

Like the idea, but a bit overkill if you ask me. 2 per side maybe.
Nicely done anyway.

I totally get the disco impression from the photos, but I promise that is just the camera picking up every possible photon of light imaginable.... In person its not overpowering at all....I'll try to find a way to grab a pic that is more true to form

This winter has pushed many of us to the edge it seems...
Looks good, although I'd change the LEDs to something more white less blue.

The idea is great, and looks well executed. But its over-kill IMHO. The idea behind engine compartment lights are to provide sufficient light should you need to access the engine bay in the dark.
Perhaps reduce the amount of LED's, should look alot less aftermarket.

I have GOT to get a better camera!!!!!
I agree with ALL the comments so far.....but in all honesty it's the pictures...the LEDs are PURE white, zero blue(but they look blue as the sky in the pics) and also they are NOT overpowering at all, just a soft blanket of light...if you look at the engine bay and not the lights you can see that there is not any glare or reflection bouncing back up off the components.......damn it, now I've got to find a way to validate that I didn't "rice the Hell" outta my car
