C63 vs M4

Uh-oh dass not good!

zibby43 04-20-2015 11:40 PM

The M4 has an exhaust and a JB4 tune.

That's a pretty aggressive setup.

I'll be more interested in the tuned W205 vs. tuned M4 race.

zibby43 04-20-2015 11:43 PM

632 whp is a lot lol.

Idk why the link isn't working I got it straight from youtube. But damn thats a lot of whp from just a jb4 and exhaust. Holy crap

Not sure what you guys were expecting. The new m3/m4 is faster than the w204 c63. Maybe not out of the box (though it is very close) but tuned modern turbo technology is hard to beat.

The w205 should pull harder in highway pulls due to higher displacement etc and that is the real competition.

One thing is for sure, I'm not racing any m4's expecting to win.

kb24forlife24 04-21-2015 12:27 AM

Would you guys recommend a C63 W204 or an M4? I'm looking to buy a car in about 3-4 years (yeah it's super early but you get my point). What do you guys expect the prices of the C63 and the M4 to be in that time?

Yeah I was close to making the switch to a F80 M3 based on how wide it is and aggressive compared to the w205 but I decided to wait and see the potential!

Magno507 04-21-2015 12:40 AM

I owned a e92 m3 before and made a switch to MB only because the new engines sound terrible !

Such a vague question that doesn't really have a good answer. Budget?

I don't know your taste so just drive them when you're ready.

My 3-4 year car is hopefully an e63s. Maybe the w205 c63 depending on how "good" they really are.

The m's are about to get some new attention and fixes to the first year issues. Look at the f80 m5 in 2013 and now the differences to 2015. You can get a first model year m5 for "cheap" now. (Like 40-50k off sticker...)

Supposedly new headlights for the 2016 which would be a big change in my opinion as well as some other little fixes here and there that come with first model year anything.

Yea it's crazy how cheap a 2013 M5 is. Same goes for the 2012 e63 once the biturbo came in.

M-Theory 04-21-2015 01:23 AM

I left my E92 M3 due to lack of torque, though I loved the car the lack of torque kills it. Jumped into a M156 car and love it so far, but with the New M turbo motors it's hard not to want to go back. I'd only go to a M5/6 though, the M3/4 is a beautiful and fast car but it sounds like complete crap, I can't stand the sound it makes.

Spazdoc 04-21-2015 01:50 AM

Agree with above comments. The E90 M3 was never a real consideration since my 335 (tuned) produced gobs more torque and I rarely would be keeping it near redline to maximize the engine's potential. I was at the dealership discussing purchasing a 2015 M3 (could not negotiate pricing because I was post call and was falling asleep in the salesman's office), but after thinking about it, it had some steep negatives for me. Given that negotiating for an M3 is difficult (I was offered $5k off for an M4 vs $3500 off fo an M3), it was due for a facelift for 2016, it produced fake exhaust sound, and it is a first year model. Sure, with some tunes it will beat out the C63, but God knows how reliable that will be. The C63 is heavier and may not handle quite as perfectly on a track, but when will I again have the chance to drive a car as small as the C Class with a 6.3L V8?

The first year issue is downplayed on the BMW forums, but it is a real disincentive if the upgrades are significant. Mind you, the M4 is a new body and thus not yet due to facelift.

Let's give it a few months to see how the tuned 2015+ C63 compares.

interesting that you got a bigger discounted offer on the m4. I had heard when the M4 came out BMW was doing fantastic lease rates on them too.

The link above (http://www.burgertuning.com/images/s55_jb4_pure.jpg) is for an M4 with upgraded turbos.
A stock M4 with a tune is around 470whp. Still a lot, but far from 600whp+

avery.whss 04-21-2015 12:46 PM

Yet another idiot who can't drive a C63 ...I mean..Who the hell starts out a race in a normal gear? :rolf: car should of been in 2nd or 3rd around 4-5k RPM waiting to scream, But no, whoever drove it left it in C mode most likely and left it in full auto ..i bet a 150whp civic could beat this C63 driver

Also that C63 sounds like garbage when it starts to go, Whoever is driving it..Sell it, you suck at driving, Whenever i WOT my car it kicks down to the lowest gear (usually 2nd) and screams, that C63 sounds like it barely even down shifted a gear, more like a lower RPM range, to be honest I highly doubt it's tuned if it's shifting like that

Example, my video, notice how it's screaming.

Now look and listen to how it sounds like the C63 is bogging down .. https://www.youtube.com/watch?featur...yeXOoq4anc#t=6

The guy driving this C63 is a idiot and even sounds like one. "herp derp lets race a new M4 and not even chuck the car in a lower gear herp derp"

im not saying i could beat a 600whp m4..what im saying is, it isn't always the car :y

I know, that's why I included the link (which specified the "Pure" turbo upgrade). I was merely stating the impressiveness of the package.

A lighter car with more power is faster? That's crazy talk...

Lol that wasnt just faster, thats getting walked on badly. Minimal mods too.

BLKROKT 04-21-2015 04:14 PM

Car is in "Sport" traction setting and D4 gear at 0:18 in the video. Went to redline in 4th, but sure doesn't look like it.

I agree that the car doesn't sound or look tuned at all, judging from the acceleration. It may or may not be a poor showing by the C63 owner. Should be more-or-less a toss-up if they are tuned to the level the video says they are. "Exhaust" can mean many things. But if it's a Stage 1 tune with a cat-back? Well then duh, that's a predictable result.

Could not agree more. I assume that it handles very well and is an amazing car to drive, I cannot justify an M3 over an e92 335i. Almost exactly the same engine, and they're both clearly very tunable. Add in the poor reviews the M3's new electric steering has been getting and there's just no way I can justify it. And there's an enormous price gap between an old n54 and the new M3/4.

On the other hand, a naturally aspirated 6.2 v8 is anomalous in this day and age. Aside from the vette, trucks and maseratis it's pretty hard to find a big-bore v8 in a vehicle these days and the universal trend (rightfully so) is forced induction. I bought my c63 a few months ago with that in mind and hope to keep it for a while.

avery, aren't you the dude who claimed his C63 was making 600 hp with bolt ons? haha, that was great entertainment. You should do that again.

Properstyle 04-22-2015 09:40 AM

a tuned 335I on pump gas is dead even with a tuned and test pipe E90m3. been there and done that race. I still own my E90m3 thats now FBO and the wife has the c63 tuned. stock vs stock m3f80 vs c63 looses this races by a cars lenght. the m3 is just lighter making the same at the wheels no beating that. Now I've also ran my buddy after he got down pipes vs mine after tune and from a 40 it's dead even but from a 60 he is out 1-2 cars.
