Headers Decision

My little brother is building a C63.
Next on the list is headers, he's aiming to keep it NA and really wants to dip into the mid/low 11's.

He's trying to decide, IPE/Cargraphic LTH or even Kleeman shorty's. Something preferably that will bolt on with minimal customisation and something that's not going have an orchestra of creaking and rattling coming from the engine bay.
(Keep in mind this is a RHD car)

He's making 430whp atm, with tune, filters etc. He's aiming for 470whp+

His main aim is to make it as responsive as possible and gain as much acceleration and torque as possible. Mainly trying to improve 0-100km/h times. (0-62mph)

Thoughts?

None for now
Long tubes give you more HP vs. shorty headers

They are $1695 inc GST but.... they don't come with front pipes to fit to the standard system.

Who's Darren?

See the issue is, a lot of exhaust shops haven't fitted headers to a C63 and my brother doesn't want to risk having some apprentice or dodgy fitter do the job.

So if anyone can recommend a good exhaust shop in Melbourne that'd be great!

mate you can see Richard at Rowville exhausts (he is a god) at welding and fitting 9764 1177) Darren at dpe (he makes the headers and does mids and a full system for the c63 (03) 9747 0747, or Christian at Peter fitzgerald racing aka(evolve tecknic) in Box Hill (they are bloody exp labour rates) as you will need a custom tune also , or it will go bang eventually

Yeah he has a tune already that can be tweaked once headers are installed.
Thanks for the details, might give them a go. DPE need the car for 3-4 days.
Everywhere else i've spoken to have said 1 day. But majority haven't really worked with C63's.

just remember you don't need a brand name to go fats or make power, Darren is a legend in exhaust building . just saying.....on all my present and past bikes and cars I have always had my own pipes made (usually by Richard) and I have always dyno'd stronger than other known brands..but that could be Lee at MPC he is a dynamite tuner too

Yeah we'd prefer to go custom fabricated or an unknown, as i've had experience with past cars and bikes that have always been better in doing that. But, it's just hard to find someone who knows what they're doing when it comes to headers etc with the C63.

I wouldn't bother with any other headers besides difilipo headers. If your chasing times and power they are the best on the market.

BLACKBENZ88 - Unfortunately MBH don't make headers for RHD cars. We'd all die for a full MBH system, the craftsmanship is second to none!

Good to hear from both you guys. RNS11Z & mr747
I've been down the forced induction route, but everything was bought as a package (headers, blower, box etc) so i can't give him advice on what headers are better and what is not on an NA car. He's strictly keeping it NA and his aim is to hit Mid 11's and to keep it as streetable as possible aiming for low/mid range power and big torque numbers.

He's looked at Difillipo and IPE and i think he's heading towards IPE.

He's even considering not going headers if it's just going to wield him 10-15kw @ wheels. He's pumping out 323kw @ wheels atm with just minor mods and no headers.

yep, that's what Christian said today at PFR , they have done primary cat deletes and high flow secondary's with custom tuning and they are only 10-15kw off full headers...for 1/2 the cost

Only issue is that'd suffer top end because it won't breathe.
Headers would be better off for top end imo, but geez $3500-$5000 for 10-15kw gain is insane!

You can gain similar with carbonio boxes and cold air intakes lol

Curious to know why you believe the ipe is better?
Fyi I had ipe/cargraphic headers fitted to my car first. I then changed to tbe defillipo headers. Since changing headers and tune I have improved to a 11.5 from a 11.9. My real world results tell me, these headers perform better then the ipe type if your chasing 1/4 times. If you search for my name you will see I posted all my results from when I first just changed headers then the tune. No doubt ipe make a great product and in no way am I dissing them how ever I am yet to see ipe fitted header cars run the times true LTH cars run.
