Purchasing from used car lot, warranty question, please help
So im in negotiations with a pretty reputable used car dealer on long island. Its not a MB dealership obviously, but they are telling me they can add a bumper to bumper warranty for 2,500$ ish that i can bring to any MB dealer. How exactly does this work? Should i call up the local MB and talk to them first?
I've been doing a lot of research on this forum so i know what I'm getting myself into with a c63 (brakes, tires, head bolt etc.) lol. I just don't want to get screwed by not purchasing from MB themselves.
the c63 is a 2011 with 60,000 miles

I'd get details in print of the warranty they are offering and visit your local dealers service department and ask for confirmation that they'll honor it.

Who is the "warranty"(it's actually a service or maintenance plan, I'll bet), from - or: who is the underwriter. At that price, I'm betting The Warranty Group, or on of their multitude of different names.
If it's a 2011, is it post head bolt? I'd have a hard time not justifying the premium that a later 2011 would fetch.
Finally, what are the records? Has it been cared for?

Yeah that's a third party warranty that this reputable dealer is pushing on you
Read the fine print ... $2500 is crazy cheap... Something ain't right

My "warranty" is 3/36 on my 2009 and is from The Warranty Group. I paid about what the OP quoted. I have a $100 deductible. I've yet to try an use it though...

i had a "warranty" through ASC that i paid ~$2,500 for through the used car lot and by the time I ended up using it for a repair, i found out that it has a maximum benefit of the amount i paid for the warranty. so, to sum it up, i gave them my money to hold. needless to say, i have since cancelled it and am shopping around for a legitimate aftermarket warranty.

You have to check the details of what "bumper-to-bumper" really means. When I was looking for warranties on an '09, the only ones that would actually cover major mechanical work on the engine (read head bolts) was $4-5k. Since I have a local non-MB shop I'd trust with the work I figured it would be cheaper to not get the warranty.
