I need to order a set of these, I assume they also fit the W211 E63 M156 engine...

AMG893 06-25-2015 09:41 AM

Excuse my ignorance, but what is the advantage of these in reality?

shardul 07-17-2017 04:54 PM

Who makes this kit and where is it made? Trying to figure out how it compares to Wiestec's kit for the same price.

This kit is made by Ultimate Performance and Design. We have sold more than 500 idler kit for the M113K cars. A couple of years ago we starting making the idler kit for the M156. Off lately I am getting a lot of inquires regarding the M156 kit since the OEM plastic one are breaking due to age and heat in the engine bay.

Thanks, I thought they looked like the UPD ones which are made in the US and have a good reputation for quality didn't realize it was you guys when I saw your username, just realized reading it in your contact info.

Are you going to do it yourself or having it done, I will tackle this at some point in the not too distant future, so would love to hear from someone on how difficult it was and how long it took you.

It's super easy once you have the radiator shroud/fan out of the way. 30min tops. Just make sure you have a torque wrench that measures down to like 10ft/lbs (3 pulleys are at 20nm=15ft/lbs and the other 3 are at 30nm=22ft/lbs). I had to go grab a 1/4 inch one from HD because all my other ones started above where these needed to be.

I really don't have the space, so my favorite Indy Shop in NJ is doing it along with a few other things

who do you use? I’m new to MB and am trying to find good independent mechanics.

Thanks

okay so they are replaced to evade the possibility of the plastic ones to deteriorate. A counter measure with no performance gains outside of well...keeping the engine in tip top shape.

That answered my biggest question now, I know you guys also make the underdrive pulley how does that fit in with these. In terms of harmonics, engine operating condition and any gains to be gained if all pulleys were from UPD?

Precisely (your first question)

We have offered the M156 under drive crank pulley for a about 4 years now. To be honest a majority of my sales for the under drive crank pulley kit have been through dealers. We have not had any issues / complaints about them. No premature rod bearing failures due to different harmonics.

Does your under drive crank pulley have the timing marks on it?
