Service B - Stealership
I recently took my 2013 P31 Coupe in for Service B, even though I'm only at 18,000KM (The car has prompted me to go however, and was told to follow the tracker to avoid voiding the warranty).
I knew I was going to pay something ridiculous but definitely did not expect a bill of $1000....
What are the rest of you paying in Toronto? (I was at Mercedes-Benz Markham). Can anyone else recommend me a better stealership or Indie shop?
I'm also curious as to how true the warranty statement is? I'm under the impression that certain indie shops are certified, but would rather entrust my car with the dealership for bigger services.

You should have perhaps called and got a quote from the dealership for the service. My service B is due as well and was given a quote of $495 by the dealership yesterday.
I also called a certified indy shop and they gave me a price of $299 OTD. Still debating the pros vs cons.

Legally speaking, a dealer that does maintenance improperly can void the warranty if it results in damage. Although MB would likely decline to void the warranty in that instance.

Guys,
seriously, the second service is oil change, oil filter change and cabin filter change. For each of those you can find instructions including videos online. Everything else is pretty much just 'check everything is in good shape'. Your maintenance booklet spells it all out, item by item. Why are you not doing it yourself? That way it is under 150$.
Or PM me, I'll do it for 300$ for you....
Dealerships are businesses with salaries to pay and buildings to build/rent/operate.

Yea at my last service they wanted me to pay $130 to change the engine air filter... $25 on Amazon and 5 minutes I was done. I'll be stepping in on more of those going forward.

I always do my own services. My service manager said to use an OEM Oil filter, save my receipts and it will not void the warranty
It is much cheaper and I am always sure it is done correctly
You can go to the Mercedes website and download the Maintenance Manual for your car. Here is the link: Maintenance Manuals

basic service shouldnt cost that much and is easy to do on your own like others said.
My last service was one of the larger intervals so I just paid the dealership to do it (trans flush, brake flush, differential, etc)
a basic oil change, that wont even take an hour of your time to do and save some money.
Edit
actually i was wrong i got everything but the transflush....it was pricey to say the least but i was bringing it in for some issues anyway so got it all at once

They changed my brake fluids, cabin air filters, and the rest was anonymous, I don't even see anything for trans flush and differential, the two things I was really hoping to have done. (Which I thought is why it was so expensive). Is that supposed to be included in Service B?
Oh.. they also reattached my gas cap back to the flap

That price is out of line. $495.00 is close to what I paid twice for service B.
If they are changing the trans fluid it adds another 400.00+ I seem to remember.
I trust the Guys at my MB Dealer. They have gone out of their way to keep the C63 in tip top shape looking for any thing that might be out of spec.
Just ask them what they are including in service B.

First of all, the OP is talking about Canadian $ (so divide by 1.35 for an approximate conversion to US $). Second, unlike in litigation-happy USA where everyone likes to sue everyone else, there is no Magnuson–Moss Warranty Act in Canada or the rest of the world so if you want to keep the warranty valid, you have to have it serviced by a certified MB service center which here means dealership. Last but certainly not least, the B service on the C63 includes a full brake flush for example, and even I can't do that in less than two hours. You spent $100K CAD on a high-performance, 500hp car but are b!tching about a $1K service bill?
The sheer number of cheap a-holes on this board is really starting to get to me. Next time buy a freakin' Chevy Cavalier or a Kia and stop whining.

And yes I am complaining but if you bothered to actually pay attention I was gauging how much other indys or dealerships are charging for the SAME service. Because while you buy your 20 dollar bottle of water i'll gladly go ahead and get that same bottle of water at walmart

Because being wealthy means you have to be financially ignorant right? Let me guess, your the type of person that goes to whole foods to buy a 20 dollar bottle of "natural spring water".

I don't shop either at Whole Foods or Walmart - I usually go to Bruno's. I think that's your problem right there. Seeing as you bought a C63 in the first place so presumably you're in the "well-off" category yourself, let me ask you this: would you be happy making $12.50 an hour or $26K a year? If you woudn't do it yourself, how can you objectively expect anyone else to work for $12.50 an hour because that's what it would take for them to be able to do the service for $500 seeing as the fluids alone cost $400+tax?
The MB dealerships in the GTA are corporate-owned and all charge the same for the same service (they don't go by the hour but rather by the "task" - a brake fliud change and bleed is 0.7 hours). Back in February, B service on my C63 in including a brake fluid flush was $830 WITH MY OWN SYNTHETIC OIL, which is exactly your $1K if you're also buying ten liters of $13 synthetic oil from MB. What exacly is your problem then? As I said, if you don't want to have to use synthetic oils or have your brake fluid changed every two years, don't buy an AMG, Porsche or a Ferrari - there certainly are cheaper alternatives. If you do choose to get a premuim vehicle, please stop b!tching about how you don't want to pay for properly maintaining the car and in general being a douche.
