Ran my C63BS at the Drags tonight
Wanted to see how my modded C63 compares to my other cars. Best quarter mile time was
12.089 @ 119.22
Mods are in my sig. Running Continental 5p's in the rear. I thought this car would be faster than my V10 R8 which ran a 11.7 at 122 a few years back at this same drag strip.
There was a strong head wind today and temperature was around 78 degrees.
Was really hoping to trap in the low 120's
I went with 2 other C63's which just had tune, filters and midpipes (no headers) They were running 12.5-13.0 at 109-112. My friend in his SL63 AMG just renntech tune ran a 11.5 @123 and Mclaren MP4-12C convertible ran a 11.1 at 128.

These cars are super sensitive to changes in DA. Post up your timeslip in the 1/4 mile list so we can have a look.

What do you mean by DA ?
All I can think of is driver assists like stability and traction control but when I raced years ago we'd monitor AD (air density) and tune accordingly. Not easy to do with today's cars though.

Left is me, right is my buddy in a 2010 C63 P30 Sedan. (Tune, Filters, Resonator deletes)
DA was around 1200 I think.
Also the only way I ran was S+ using launch control. Sometimes I would get a good launch and sometimes it would bog then wheel spin a bit. Traction was on sport.

your 60' time has a lot of tenths to gain. I dont care much for the launch control you're probably better without using it. Keep in mind the b.s. wasnt intended as a drag racer, the regular c63 is already under tired. If you get a set of dedicated slicks you'll probably pick up .5s. Your r8 had absolutely no traction issues being awd and with a mid engine setup so it could come off the line harder, not to mention it being a few hundred pounds lighter.
i struggled to get in the 11's with the blower. usually running 12.2-11.9s @ 128mph . I knew the power was there it was just a matter of putting it down. I did the cheap 16" clk drag wheel setup on 225 mickey thompson dot slicks and bam 11.2 and that was in 95* heat.

Every change in +1000 (appx 225 DA is considered sea level) of DA is about equivalent to -0.15 and -1.5mph (very roughly).
Can easily get the DA from dragtimes.com for any drag strip in the US for the date/time of your runs, and then normalize your runs. Makes comparing the effect of your mods and times from day to day, with varying conditions, easier.

Im assuming it's the newer sl63 with the biturbo v8... a tune bumps it to 700hp. The newer body 231 sl's lost alot of weight from their predecessors with all the aluminum. Your c63 while a few hundred pounds lighter is in the 550 ballpark, it's just not enough. Now go make him do like 5x 50-150mph pulls consecutively and his will car heat-soak and drop a good 200hp. You can probably smoke him then
As for the claims.... they're all over the place. You've got people claiming they beat aventadors too. My friend has an aventador and it will annihilate my car. I can beat liter bikes too, when i ricer fly by the **** out of them and let off before they can catch up.
When i run people i like to be in 2 gears too high and see if i can still win rather than try my hardest. If they go brag to everyone they beat me, so be it. they'll be quite embarassed when they get a taste of reality.

458 was probably 2 gears too high lol. I don't doubt a S/C C63 can smoke a aventador, but if its bolt on mods you are dreaming hahaha

Manual mode shifting 500rpm before redline, traction on Sport for street tires, traction off completely for drag radials or slicks. Avoid the water if you're on street tires, heat them up good after the box. No race start, just powerbrake for 1-2s before launching. Any more delay than that and the trans will kick into some sort of safe mode and bog off the line.

retard question, so don't use race start?
just hold the brake and slightly gas it before letting off the line? any video of this powerbrake technique?

Race start just isn't that quick (in my experience ~1.9-2.0 60' times are about where it gets you), plus you have to then keep it in S+ where it short-shifts all gears at under 6500rpm. Not faster and not worth the hassle anyway.
Powerbraking. Hold left foot on brake hard. Floor accelerator with right foot for about 1sec (rpms should get to about 2000-2500rpm). Release brake quickly. Hang on.

^ Don't use race start. Put your left foot on the brake, rev up a little bit with right foot on the gas. Once green on the gas and off the brake. It's like brake boosting if you've ever had a turbo car.

That's damn good for street tires. I'm pretty consistently running 1.82-1.85 using my method on my PSS's. 1.81 is my best. DR's go back on once the weather cools a bit.

^^^ i was using PSS also but i think it was a fluke pity i short shifted when i made that 1.79 60ft lol
